I have problems when playing videos and listening to music on my HP EVO laptop - sound plays back at double speed and the same is true of video. In all other respects everything seems to be working ine. Any help would be appreciated.

this may be due to codec issues, there are special video and audio codecs needed to give sound to webbased films and videos. try downloding k-lite codec pack or xp-codec install, reboot and try to access youtube again!
Is there any other programs running in the background IE Anti-Virus programs, or anything that could be using quite alot of Memory other the stuff your watching? It could be either down to Lack of Memory being allocated to the Audio & Video (Probably the case if the machine has built in Shared Sound & Video Card). Try opening Task Manager and setting the Application that you use to play Music/Movies to High Priority. If it's not that try lowering the Master Volume on the Mixer Device by going into the Volume Properties in the Task Tray (By the Clock).
I bought a used Compaq evo N410c and had the same problem. I went to HP's website and downloaded the ADI Soundmax Audio Drivers and both video/sound are working fine. The drivers installed without any problems, I was not prompted to insert any disks. nicole79, sounds like you may have downloaded the wrong drivers.
