I have the GE WBVH6240FWW front load washer - I did a load of laundry and when it was time for the door to unlock it would not open. Along with not opening the machine made a winding noise. I have only had the machine for less than a 4 weeks. I need to know what is wrong with this machine. Please HELP!!

did you unplug it,leave it unplugged for 5 minutes and plug it back in,if it's to hard to get to plug flip the breaker and leave the power off for 5 minutes or longer when you power it up again the door should unlock.here's a link to check hope it helps
I queryed another site; justanswer.com with technician Larry, who provided the solution. Replace the door latch assenbly part # WH10X1006 $146.99 from GE. A local parts house had the identical under a Whirlpool # WP8182634 for 59.46. Install the new assemble and all is well.
Usually, the door will not unlock because there is water still inside the unit. You will need to get the water out of the tub to get the door to open. On the bottom left corner, there is a small door. Inside the door is a small rubber drain hose. This will empty out the water inside. After awhile, the machine will unlock the door.
