Portable DVD player stopped working

I have a Audiovox portable DVD #D1500B. It has worked great for about 1 year. Recently, when I tried using it, it would try loading and gave message "wrong disc". It would still play a CD fine. Now it doesn't load and I get the message "open".

My Audiovox D1817 Portable DVD player power light comes on but nothing on the screen and the disc does not sound like it is turning. What is wrong with it?

Two issues

1, if the CD is not spinning BAD motor, or not getting enought power from the supply.

2. LCD not turning on (bad back light) or power not getting to it

1. replace the A/C apator
1.a try holding a flash light up to the lcd display to see if you see anything. If not then you are not getting full power to the unit you could have a bad power supply or logic board as a whole.

Audiovox is "you get what you paid for device" basically speaking use it for a year and throw it away. Not trying to be blunt but simply put there not quality devices at all.

Take my advice with this following statment "your better off with a new player"

Not playing the dvd

NO DO NOT WATSE YOUR MONEY PLEASE READ THIS! Ok I have owned the same portable dvd player for a few years now , and every know and then it acts up and wont play anything only to say " NO DISC " . What I have found over time is to fix this , turn it upside down , and slam it with your fist , enough for a sligh punch . This may sound really stupid but trust me it works great , just dont slam it so hard that you break , and this has worked for me numerous times , good luck :)

Troble shooting:[D1500B] When the player gets heated up, the scrren goes blank and the player stops.

Your adaptor may be giving out more voltage than required by the player.First, change the adaptor,if the problem still occurs that means that the power section of the player is weak.

Audiovox d1210

We bought this player almost 5 years ago, and have the same problem. When we called audiovox at the time they told us that it was because some of the dvd mnufacturers had changed the format/technology in which they recorded the dvd programs. The biggest problem was with the Disney dvd's. Also, that they did not have any software upgrades at that time to upgrade the player. We used it for a while with the hit and miss movies that it would play, and then finally shelved it and bought a minivan with a preinstalled dvd player. Very rarely use the audiovox now. I am surprised; however, that after 5 years they would still have the same problem and have still not yet upgraded the software in this player. Good luck.
