Yes, there was a product recall for your Dishwasher due to fire hazard. Please visit the following pages for further information:

The list includes model numbers beginning MDB7 with serial numbers ending in YM, so yours is one of the units affected.

With regard to repair / replacement / compensation, Maytag state the following:

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using these dishwashers, disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it and inform all users of the dishwasher about the risk of fire. Contact Maytag for either a free in-home repair, or a $75 cash back reimbursement following the purchase of a new Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Whirlpool® or KitchenAid® dishwasher. Consumers should not return the dishwasher to the retailer where it was purchased, as retailers are not prepared to take units back.
Consumer Contact: For more information, contact Maytag Corporation at (800) 675-0535 anytime, or visit the firm's Web site at www.repair.maytag.com.

Hope this helps - I would advise phoning them on the number above to find out what your exact position is as this recall was issued in 2007. However, there should not be any time limitations on claims and this still appears to be an active recall. They have admitted the dishwashers are dangerous and thereby accepted liability.

Well Kathy, you may be in luck. There has been a safety recall on your model of dishwasher and Maytag will give you a considerable allowance to replace with another Maytag. You may contact them at 1-800-544-5513 with your model and serial number and they will give you instructions on how to obtain your new dishwasher at a deeply discounted rate and all the details.

I can provide you with a link to the Maytag site where you can enter in your model number and download an owners manual and installation instructions/guide that will provide you with the step-by-step needed to properly install your dishwasher.

The installation instructions will provide the proper wiring, water supply inlet plumbing and connection of the water discharge line, as well as all of the dimensions needed for clearances for the countertop and cabinets.

If you're trying to install an older dishwasher, you can also give them a call at 1-800-344-1274 and have your complete model number available, so they can provide you the correct manuals and instructions.

Go to Navigon home page and click on support. on right side click on product user guides and find your model. It is a large manual so i downloaded and save to a disk for reference.
