Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
This is a pal Jessica's TV and I was looking into the issue for her. Not sure what happened to it but I think a one of Jessica's friends kids may have ran into the TV, but as kids that do something wrong are known to do the child denys everything and anything. So here is the situation. The top and bottom of the screen is wavy "like an arch" but less defind. Her hubby said that he had to do the convergency thing because it was like a 3D screen after the incedent occured. I spent hours playing with no help. The colour focus is fine except at the top and bottom. The convergent menus are of no help now. As anyone that has tryed would understand what I mean by "All I endup doing was going cross eyed. LOL. Anyways I am a tech savy person and good with working on things. I just need help to know what to look at and do/try to fix this, before I attempt to open the back of the TV. Any help will be greatly aprecated, And thank you. Jason
Guys i just had the repair man out $400 he gave me the bad chips that are causing the problem and i looked up the part its only 7.99 it took him 1hr to do he also replaced some resistors but after googling the part number found some people giving out the resistors that need to be replaced. now i didnt see him replace so i dont know how hard it is to replace on your own but could be worth a shot had i known about the parts i needed i would have done it myself. Part No. STK392-150 He said STK392-180 would work too.

That is funny.. Mine just did the same thing about 2 days ago! I guess we need to pull together and get circuit boards at a bulk rate!

I have the exact same issue. Chances are good the convergence circuit needs to be replaced. I wonder why they just suddenly go bad.
