Question about Panasonic PT-53WX53 53" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
I have a Panasonic PT-53WX53G projection television. I have just recently had problems with this TV. You can turn the power on with either the remote or the button on the TV. After about 5 sec. the TV turns off and the red power LED blinks three times. The service manual says that the TV is in self-diagnosis mode. The manual also says that the LED blinking three times means that their is a convergence problem. Now in order to fix the convergence you need to have the television in service mode right? Could this be a convergence problem or is it the convergence circuit?
A tech wants to charge $89 just to troubleshoot. So how much will convergence cost?

More than likely, the two convergence IC's have to be replaced.

tv comes on for a moment and then back off. worked fine night before.
My problem is exactly as described above by the first two posts. Worked fine night before - no sign of pending problem. Just won't come on anymore. Try turning it on and the red light blinks. Unplug from wall and let set for a while, plug back in, hit power and TV comes on briefly then shuts down - blinking red light again!
Exact same problem.....and there was a burning smell when it popped (like a card had fried).
Still comes on briefly, then off, red light blinking.
So - if I pull the rear access cover, is the card I am looking for "obvious?" I know I can go look for a smoked component. Are the Convergence Chips easy to spot?
Tv comes on then goes off. LCD light blinks
The same problem as the others. Turn on the TV and basically the red light on the front of the system blinks.
Problem is as described by others. T.V. turns itself off with red blinking light in front. after unpluging unit and turning it on again it will come on for a second or two then shut off again.
