I am using superLG Radio/VCD player AB 777. Sometimes it doesnot open the cd tray and recently it couldn't recognize any CD inserted to the tray.
I removed the top cover and when i see the motors, the motr that spins the CD is not active. What solution do you propose me?

Re: My VCD player doesnot recognize a cd
Try cleaning the laser lens with a cleaning disk like you might find a Wal-Mart or Radio Shack and see if that helps. If the lens on the laser is too dirty to read that it has a disk then it will not attempt to spin the disk. If cleaning doesn't solve your problem then it may be a much bigger problem like weak laser etc. Good luck.

Sometimes it is a simply little microswitch or a switch that looks like 2 brass little small thin long somewhere on the side where can under or in the middle where the tray this switch should activate , this part can be simply broken or oxydated, that is a switch that recognized there is a cd loading and makes a autofocus to the laser to read the table of contents all thing also the moving of the laser in this action is timed.
1) try to clean the button with special contact cleaner spray 2) if this work, is o.k otherwise use the r. control and try to open the tray if work, is obvious the button was dirty. If doesnot work, you must the DVD player. 3) inspect any belt and replace, and lube any shaft +gear with small lubricant( vaseline) and replace any parts broken.Tight any wires connector very well and clean it. 4) if doesnot resolve the problem you must go the repair shopt TV for fix it. God bless you
Good day sir, Try to clean it with a CD lens cleaner if problem persist.I recommend replacing your optical disk drive or use it as a slave for reading CD's so that your new ODD will last long. in my opinion most DVDRAM, player etc. can read most formats except Bluray disc. using the device from reading CD,VCD and DVD lessen's the device life span. sometimes if we rarely use the ODD its already not working.
It can play Audio CD, MP3, WMA, including formats like Video CD (VCD), DVD, Div. It has 4 channels, with In-Dash Player, In-Dash Monitor. Th inputs it recognizes & plays are DVD Video, VCD, SVCD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD (Audio), CD-R, CD-RW. In the radio you can hear AM, F. It has a 6.5 inch dipla. A quote from their website reads "The AVH-P4900DVD lets you take your digital music files with you,
whether they're MP3 or WMA format. Burn files onto one CD-R and play
them in any mix you want. Use the touch-panel to easily navigate
through your file and folder lists to find exactly the song you are in
the mood for." I hope this is enough to answer your query!......sodeep
dvd are up to 6 times the density of a cd there making the laser eye read much closer rings on the disks. so in other words its having a hard time reading dvd.
the only thing you can do is take a cotton swap dipped in alcohol and open the tray look with a flashlight for a small optical eye in exact center of dvd player and rub lightly on it to remove dust build up or spray some canned air into the dvd youll hit it. try it again and if no sound again the computer cant keep up with the dvd or vise versa.
