Sharp Copier AL-1631. Copies with a black line (which moves positions on the page each time). Checked the manual and cleaned the part that it told me to. That did nothing to fix the problem.

The black line occurs at all times, with the feeder and when just placing the page on the glass.

If it only happens when using the document feeder (if fitted), then the small glass on the right hand side needs a clean ( normally tippex), if it occurs when copying from the glass and doc feed then your charge corna needs cleaning

Open the side toner, open the front door, remove toner. To the right of toner is the drum unit, remove. Have a look at the condition of the drum, should be shiney and clean, if it looks dull and scratched, replace complete unit. if it looks ok then on top of the unit there is a aluminium unit held in by two chrome screws remove and then remove the corona unit (can be a bit tricky). Once out, the under side has a grid ( a fine mesh), clean that and the under side as well, with a clean cloth and meths or similar. replace all items and test

Check under the scanner, there is a scanner lock that you may have hit removing copies. Its most likely in the locked position and stopping scan.

My sharp al-1631 has dark 1/4" vertical line on right side only. drum replace lite or cart. replace are not on. i've cleaned transfer wire many times. still have line. help??

have you replaced the cleaning blade? Replace the cleaning blade and check the copies if its ok

Sharp al-1631 copier. drum error code

You can reset this indicator by pressing these keys in sequence:
Press "C" then press "Exposure Mode" then "C" again then "Exposure Mode" again.
Note that the Exposure Mode key is the far left key on the panel.
One you press these 4 keys in sequence the display should go blank. Then key in 24 as if to make 24 copies. Then press Print (Green Button)
Then key in 7 as if to make 7 copies.
Press print again. You should now get flashing 000.
Turn machine off then back on and the light should be gone.
Here it is in a short version:
C, far left, C, far left, 24, print, 7, print,
then power off and back on.

Hi:

This might refer to your scanner assy being locked. The scanner assy is the unit under the glass that scans your document prior to copying it. Look inside the cavity where you pick up your completed copies. Look at the upper left corner and see if there is a knob there. If there is, make sure it is in the completely unlocked position.

if the drum already been scratched out,so there is no solution to repair it,u have to change the drum.before change the drum check the copier glass surface if any dry up material,wipe it with dry cloth.

Sharp AL-1631 - would not copy.

Your unit definetly needs a new drum. The usual yield for this consumable is upt ot 15,000 pages, so at the stated rate, the unit yielded more than average. AL-1000 series share the same toner and drum, so finding remanufactured (or recycled) drum units should be no problem. In Puerto Rico, they are sold for about $79.00.
