The amperage is marked on the board right next to them--likely if they go to the convergence circuit they will be marked 5a or 5 amp.

Usually but not always there are more at the convergence chips.

I presume you did not look closely at the board where the two you found are---Sony marks everything.

ahah yeah i found it out this morning, and NO i look and look and there is only 2 pico fuses

  • Anonymous Jun 15, 2012

on the pico fuses it say 500 what that mean

  • Anonymous Jun 15, 2012

either 500 ma which is .5 amp or 5 amp--one or the other--where did you get the part numbers? You should be able to find a service manual online with a schematic and parts list for this set.

just copy and paste on ur URL the pix link i post

A explanation: those are on the G board I think--power board and they are both 5 amp--each is on one of the two voltages the convergence circuit uses--one is a negative voltage and the other a positive voltage--yes--no typo that is how all convergence circuits work--both voltages are supplied to 2 or more pins on each of the two chips----Chips will be likely STK-392-560 and on next board (high voltage board) on fairly large heat sinks with fins--- Have to if not done it change both chips--if need source at good price let me know--you got Yahoo IM ? we could speed this up a lot......

thank you and yes my email [email protected]

and i change both STK chips with a new one and found 2 burn resister, they were already burnt out, it was likely due to when the original chips failed.. The pico fuses in my board may be blowing because the resistor in the kit i bought was a 4.7 and not a 2.2 OHM resister

You didnt replace the STK's? You must replace the convergance IC's or you will continue to have this problem.

I can help with the PICOFUSES...they are 4 amp Pico.

As for the resistors, if ANY are burned, look at the convergence amp next to the damaged ones...those resistors are a mirror-image of the damaged ones.

You NORMALLY do not need to replace the resistors, ONLY the picofuses.

SOURCE: I am replacing the ic's stk-392-560 's and want to

If you are doing the convergence amps, the pico fuses are about the ONLY thing that may fail, and they are located by the heat sinks...normally found on the FIN-SIDE of the sinks.

HTH.

Don't worry about the resistors, unless you find them burned...it's rare they get damaged.

Convergence Resistors keep burning up

Some simple advice---if resistors are smoking one of the chips is shorted----The set has two voltages that go to them--one a positive voltage and one a negative voltage.

If either chip is shorted you can replace the resistors all year and not get anything. The resistors are protection in case one or both chips short----

Remove all old heat grease and install two new chips and replace the resistors at the same time.

Note that the set may have pico fuses on the power board also.

Replaced Convergence chips, same problem

This set has pico fuses on convergence board and also on G power board, there should be 2 5 amp pico fuses on power board.

If convergence is bad exactly as before double check the power board fuses and check to see if voltage (it is marked!) is there with power board disconnected from chassis..

I have a sony kp-51ws510 projection tv, i replaced the convergence ic's and a pico fuse and then reset the convergence. The tv looks good except for a green shadow on lettering, also on the convergence...

Did you check the two pico fuses on the G board? Usually at least one will blow when the original ICs failed. I am attaching a pic that shows the 2 pico fuses on the G board.

Sony KP-61XBR200 Convergence problem

STK392-020 ICs are the convergence ICs for your model, you may also want to check the 3.5 amp pico fuses and the 4.7 ohm 1/2 watt resistors as well.
