Installation I have a Lexmark printer/fax 5150. Still works fine, I like it. Problem: Changed hard drives and need to 'add a printer' to my new drive. I inserted CD, but it no longer is viable; I cannot add the printer to my Dell. Can I add this printer without the CD installer? Or where can I get another installation CD? Thanks

If you still have the installation disc that came with your printer, please insert it in your computer hard drive to install the Lexmark fax software.

If you have the installation disc, insert it into your hard drive. Follow the instructions on your computer screen. If you don't have the disc, please visit the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/jwG67O. Download the driver (Note: use Vista driver in Windows 7.), execute the file and follow the instructions on your computer screen.

The Dimension 5150 has a BTX case, which is nearly impossible to upgrade. The motherboard is NOT interchangeable (with a few exceptions, but none of which are true upgrades).

If you have a PCI Express slot, you can upgrade the video card but do not get a card that requires an additional power cable directly from the power supply. This is because the stock power supply is very weak and doesn't have outputs for additional cards. If the card requires no additional power, you should be fine.

You can upgrade your processor with the P4 [Prescott] 5xx or 6xx Series Processors with HT. The 5150 does not support core 2 duo processors. Depending on what you currently have, this may or may not be worthwhile. Also note that higher power processors run at higher temps, which sometimes causes a noticeable increase in fan noise.

The hard drive is easily upgradeable. Just buy any standard sized SATA hard drive. Your computer case supports two drives, so you could keep your current drive and just add a second drive. Remember to buy a SATA cable with the new drive because new drives usually don't come with them.

Overall, if you're looking to get outstanding performance, get a new computer. BTX computers are not gaming computers. You'll end up dumping money into this thing just to get a lousy increase in performance.

Sounds like your new computer is not recognizing the fax.

Go to: start>controlpanel>printers/faxes

There you will see an option to add a fax printer.

Add your fax there.

If your fax is not listed as an option to add, the drivers for it with need to be downloaded of the installation disk.

If the technician who changed your hard drive was able to transfer ("clone") the system from your old drive, all you need to do is plug your printer/scanner in and it should work. If he was not able to do this and you have a new Windows installation, you need to use the CD that came with the printer to re-install it. Just connect up the printer to the computer BUT DO NOT TURN THE PRINTER ON UNTIL TOLD TO. Start the computer and when Windows has loaded, put the CD in the CD drive. The CD should start the installation process - just follow the instructions. If you do not have a CD, download the necessary installation software from the Epson website.If you don't know how to do this, report back and I will provide more help.

go to start menu, go to control panel and then open printers and faxes. right click on your printer, and select "properties". then go to the advanced tab and click on the button that says "new driver". Click next, and then if you have a cd, click on the "Have Disk" button and select the disk drive that contains the driver. If you DONT have a cd, then look for the printer in the preloaded drivers area. If its not there, exit out and go back to the printers folder in the control panel and select the button on the top of the toolbar that says add printer, and then follow the steps to add it.

Lost CD need to install Lexmark 7300 data, fax, printer to my windows xp, new hard drive just installed.

How to Install BVRP FaxTools Software on the Lexmark X6130/X6150/X6160/X6170/X6190 Pro ID:ENUS8694
The FaxTools software is on the Lexmark X6100 Series Installation CD. During installation of the printer driver, you will be asked whether you want to install it. If you choose to cancel this option during the installation process, you can install the software separately as follows:

1. Insert the Lexmark X6100 Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. When the Install Software screen appears, click Cancel.
3. Right click on the Start button and select Explore.
4. Click on the plus sign (+) beside My Computer .
5. Click on the plus sign (+) beside the Lex X6100 CD.
6. Double-click on the FAX folder.
7. Double-click on the relevant language folder on the right-hand side.
8. Double-click on the Setup executable. (Note: The correct setup icon is the one with two white arrows on a grey foreground.)
9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
