I put in a blank or recorded disk ,and the screen message is " unknown disk", and ejects the disk. I have used different blank disks, with the same result. Seems it is not " reading" the disk. Probable...

are you sure the drive is a read-writer? some optical drives are read only. If its not a writer and you put a blank in, that is what it would do.

If you put a real and recorded disk in(not a copy) and it says unknown disk, the eye is dirty. Cleaning the drive will be the next step.

Sony DCR-DVD403 C 13:02 Error Message so won't record movies.

Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene. Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc

I have had the same problem a few times. All I do is eject and re-insert the disk until it recognises it, this seemed to work for me

Bush television & DVD error message 'unknown disk'

Some units jusy won't play certain types of recorded DVD discs. I would transfer one to a DVD+R type and see what happens. Buy a good brand like Memorex.

Hope that helps...

Unknown disc error

Either the lens of the DVD drive has got dirty, or the drive itself is faulty. Try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disk, if this does not work, return it for replacement (If it is still under warranty), or take it to a repair shop to have the DVD drive replaced.

Dvd "unknown disc" message coming up

Have you tryed to use a lens cleaning disc yet. The laser lens on these players and recorders alike, must have the lens cleaned every oince in awhile. If that does not help, most likly you have a bad laser pickup assembly and you will need to replace the plaer as to have that repaiered, you could buy a new unit. Good Luck
