Why does the low toner indicator keep coming on, along with the J1 code, when I just put a new one in?

There is a low toner sensor in that machine that gets impacted with toner then doesnt work correctly. It uses sound waves to detect the toner, and once it gets very dirty it no longer works right. It will need to be removed and cleaned.

I have an e2 error on a wide format xerox 3001

Check for a jam sensor actuator hanging up. Check for paper dust or toner particals on the sensors if you can see them.
On these types of machines they require lubrication on the fuser mat for proper lubrication to the heat roll and paper transport.
If this mat has not been serviced it might contain high amount of toner on it causing excessive drag on the heat roll. There can be unusual wihistling or bumpy noise when this occurs.
Also the in this case the heat roll might be damaged and may be replaced.

J1 error code

J1 is detecting either a low or out of toner condition.
Maybe just need to have the cartridge shook, replaced or it could lastly need the toner sensor replaced.
