Xante PLATEMAKER 4 prints good except fine horizontal lines are jagged
All type and fonts look crisp and clear, just that line that goes accross the middle of the buisness card that I am trying to print, almost like the toner is getting smeared before it goes into the fuser. Now get this, I run regular paper throught the printer and it does just fine!!!

Do you mean for screen printing? How many colors? You need to assign specific LPI's, angles and dot type depending what you are trying to print. Your art also might need to be set up better. Can you send link to image and print?
I have had this problem too. It only happens occasionally, and I have never really sorted it. I have made a test sheet with the same line (including some bold and some italic) copied some 15 times, starting with a 20 point font , and decreasing down to about 8 point (Times New Roman)
Print that a few times and see if any faults are repeated on each sheet. It may just be wear and tear.
So the "White lines" went away when you replaced the cartridge, and now you have "dark Lines"? It sounds to me like you have yet another bad cartridge. Is it remanufactured/ compatible? Although, they can perform very well, they can also be awful depending on the source. Return it and get another one, or different brand.
You may have to change your settings in the program you're printing from to say "tabloid" instead of the plate size. You basically set everything to make the printer think it's printing 11x17 paper instead of a plate. The only thing I leave the same as a plate is the setting in Quark that says, "Media Type". I leave it on Polyester Plate.
It sound like a fuser roller or a developing issue. If you can give me some more info we can narrow it down.
Is the line on all pages or just some of them?
Are the edges of the line crisp and clear or are they jagged?
Does the line look the same on all the prints?
How old is the machine and how many prints are on it (if avail)?
