Vertical Stretch The picture has stretched vertically so the tops of people's heads are cut off and also text that would normally show at the bottom of the screen is cut off. Any vertical adjustment like older sets used to have? Any other siggestions?

You need to adjust "vertical height" in the service program. You need to put the set in "service mode" to do this adjustment. If you google "enter service mode RCA F32665" you should find the procedure. It will be listed in abbreviated letters such as VERT SIZE or VERT HT. Follow the instructions for entering service mode and saving the data closely!! The data you change will be listed as a number between 1 and 63. The number will only need to reduced by a small amount and you can still see the picture behind the data and watch it shrink as you adjust the number down.Always burn the new number to memory (if required) before exiting service mode. Good luck

The text along the sides of the tv screen are not completely in view

you need to change the 'zoom' on the tv by the remote.
Normal mode frames the 4:3 video to the 16:9 picture area by displaying it in its original aspect ratio, with vertical gray or black bars on both sides of the screen. The disadvantage of this method is the fact that the image is small by virtue of not using the entire width of the screen. This is also known as the 4:3 mode.
Full mode Full mode horizontally stretches the 4:3 video evenly across the entire width of the screen. This is the proper mode to display anamorphic video. If used for standard aspect ratio video, everything on the screen will appear wider than normal. Contrast this with anamorphic video displayed without processing on a 4:3 display, in which people on the screen will appear taller than normal. This is also known as the 16:9 mode.
Zoom mode Zoom mode evenly stretches the picture both horizontally and vertically, until the picture fills the entire width of the screen. This crops out the top and bottom of the picture. This mode is used for letterboxed and open matte video.
14:9 mode Main article: 14:9
In 14:9 mode, the picture is magnified more than in Normal mode, but less than in Zoom mode, while retaining the original aspect ratio.
Wide Zoom mode Wide Zoom mode, also called Just mode, Horizon, or Smart Stretch, progressively stretches the picture horizontally, less in the middle and more on the edges. This allows normal aspect ratio video to be displayed across the entire width of the screen, with minimal cropping, and with much less of the unpleasing visual stretching effect of Full mode.

Picture too big for screen; cutting off top of heads and bottom of screen

Go to the picture setup of your settings menu.
Somewhere in there are options for selecting picture size.
The options will be similar to: Normal, Wide, Zoom, Stretch
You have probably selected Zoom, try Normal.

The heads of the people are cut off the picture is to high

If the top of the picture is stretched and off the screen and the bottom appears normal, this is usually a vertical deflection problem and will need a repair tech to fix. If you continue to watch the set with this problem present it will only get worse and can cause more problems.

My tv zooms in and changes the format.

This is normal - you are zooming in on the picture. Most people use the zoom feature to "stretch" a widescreen movie so it will fit the screen.

Samsung 42 inch projection tv picture like watching coneheads seems to stretch

This is a symptom of a defective capacitor in the vertical circuit, but not usually with a DLP machine. Can you post the model number of your set please? I should be able to provide you with the part designation of the defective part once I get the model number.

Thanks,
Dan

You may have a vertical circuit problem causing the picture to stretch out. This is called "over scan". You need to have a tech check it for you. Stargazer

Top of screen is stretched

There are capacitors in the vertical circuit that can cause this problem. You may be able to find these capacitors by using a hair dryer pointed to the suspected bad cap and then when the problem happens you can spry a little cooling spray on it to see if the problem clears up. The vertical output IC could be going bad but this can be checked the same way. if you have no TV solid state repair experience, play it safe and take this set into a local repair depot. Good Luck
