Brother MFC-620CN Printer

The only options for printing are Color and Grey Scale. Is there a way to print in Black and White saving the color ink for only color printing? Thanks, Donald Smith

Can you make the brother mfc-490cw print in black only? I bought a new black and it wont print because it says that the other colors are too low is there any way to bypass this?

Yes, go to properties for the printer, probably right click on the printer under printers, click on "printer preferences", and then click on "color", and change it to print in "gray scale". This will be black only. This may not be the exact way to do it on your system but look for the color setting under the printer and change to gray scale.

My brother MFC 240C was set for printing only black and white, since I had only installed a black cartridge. Now I have installed the three color cartrdiges also. How do I change the settings to print...

You have to change the settings in your print driver. In Windows XP or Vista, go into the Control Panel and the Printers & Faxes applet. Right click on the Brother print driver and select Properties. In one of the tabs there should be an option for either Grayscale or Color printing (probably under Color Management) -- change this to Color and then click OK or Apply to save the changes.

By changing it in the print driver settings, the change should take effect for all programs that you print from.

Brother mfc-620cn I have replaced all the colors and black and still can't get all the colors to print. I cleaned it about 10 times and all I get on the test is black and cyan color blocks. I am using mfg...

If you haven't been able to get the printer to print correctly after that many cleanings, it will have to be taken to a repair center for corrective maintenance. I service Brother products and you more than likely have an issue with the cleaning assembly. You can find a local authorized repair center at this link http://www.brother-usa.com/service/

Can i print black and white text only when colour cartridges are empty but black is full on an ip14300?

you can make a selection from the File->Print option of your word processor or whatever package you are using. it is your command that sets the printer to B&W or color. If your Black ink finishes then the printer even if set to color will print black as near black with color inks.

My brother mfc-740 only prints in black and white how do i do col

If you're sure the cartridge is OK start printing from the File... Print menu item and NOT the toolbar button. This will bring up a dialog box where you can choose the option to print in either color or black and white.

After pressing Print, their will be a preferences button, click that and on the first tab should be an option to print with grey scale.
