ok if you already have it fixed great but if not here is a solution if the other ones that were told didnt work... My sister had the same dvd player it wouldnt load any of the dvds. so she gave it to me. If you dont want to risk what im going to tell you than well u can pay 200 dollars or somthing to get it fixed. Take the top part of the dvd player off. you then take the little disk cover that holds the disk on the player off. if you can push the laser as close as you can to the thing that spins the disk. now if that doesnt work clean the lens by taking prokide or rubbing alchol with a q tip and just rub the lens lightly. it should clean that off. put everything back together and then try it. if it still doesnt work the mother board in it could be fried. if that is the case than well u can get it fixed for no telling how much. if you dont wont to pay anything than throw it away. This can be fixed by adjusting the POT on the rear side of the laser. My Aiwa had the same issue and there is an orange screw on the rear of the laser. Turn it about 1/16 - 1/8 turn COUNTER clockwise.

Please understand, this is a temporary fix, and will eventually ruin your laser mechanism completely. The company is out of business and the unit is 10 years old, so I didn't much care...perhaps I will run across a CD assembly I can replace it with, but this is a temporary fix for this issue.

Did you remove the anti static solder blob (point) on your new laser with a soldering iron and solder wick prior to installing it? The symptons your explaining indicate that point is still intact, If so you will need to carefully remove it first then reinstall the laser and try again.

First of all the new laser lens will not allow your Slim to read NTSC UC games if you have a PAL european Console.

There is no reason the New laser should have not read the disc unless it Came to you damaged. It sounds like you know how to replace a laser.

If the disc isn't spinning, and you have cleaned the lens (using a proper method) then it is likely that the laser has failed. The disc usually won't spin until the laser has sent/recieved a pulse from the surface of the disc. A new laser is usually about the cost of a new player.

Does it power at all? Lights come on or not?

you should buy one of those laser disks to clean the laser and inside of the ps2 so it will work again cause mine had same problem and i used that and after it worked
