Question about Panasonic Televison & Video
Updated firmware about 3 months ago and had no problems (burned disc for update, not ethernet). Got a couple new blu ray discs and unit has become problematic; sometimes spins disc and then says "stop" or "no disc" yet plays standard dvds. There have been ZERO changes to unit's connections, power, etc. I put in a blu ray disc that has never had a problem and it displayed the same inability to play. Discs are all standard purchases from Wal-Mart / Amazon and are region 1. Unit is 3 years old, but has worked fine up until recently. I have never used an sd card.
You may have come close to what the issue is---Blu Ray for several design reasons is much more critical than DVD---seen a lot with this issue----either a dirty or a failing optical pickup in the unit---I know as when first started seeing it in our shop changed a few and since under warranty found the answer--optical unit was the problem---shortly after that they started just exchanging the cheaper units.

Have you put in the correct region Blu Ray disc ?
Is it all disks not playing ?
Try cleaning the laser head with a cleaning disk.

SOURCE: panasonic bd 60 plays standard
You might have to update the firmware on it. This usually involves connecting the Player to the internet though your home network, and then in menu go to update. Best buy can do this for a fee if having trouble.
