Gas smell from dryer

I have a stacked washer/dryer. When in use the dryer emits a gas smell which is particularly strong by the outside vent. The clothes have been taking longer to dry recently and the last load did not heat at all. The machine is approx. 9 years old.

my frontload Kenmore dryer is only three months old and towels, especially, come out smelling like gas. The vent is cleaned after every load and the vent line is clean. It has been doing this since we hooked the dryer up and thought it was because it was new. Now, I am sure it is not.

I think I have the same problem with my Kenmore gas dryer. I checked the venting, and have great air flow to the outside vent. But when cheking this vent, with the dryer on, I noticed an odor of natural gas. I was getting some heat still in the dryer, but not much

I have a 2012 Maytag Brovos gas dryer that is drying fine but giving off a burning smell so strong that you can't wear the clothes. I checked the exhaust and it is clear.

Over time it was taking longer and longer to dry a load of clothes. Recently we noticed the heat was completely out. The clothes still tumble but that's it.

We recently purchased a GE gas dryer and haven't had any issues until last night. We noticed when turning the dryer on that you could smell gas in the laundry room. I cannot find a leak and the smell...

i don't know. hook up should have been by a qualified installer and properly inspected and tested.
be very careful. your unit may be under warranty. please inquire about a free service call before using it again.
dryers blow air to the outside so it vents to the outdoors whenever it is running. there may be a small leak and the odour cold be vented which would account for no odour.
be safe and update your home's insurance.

My washer is emitting a sewer like smell. what is that from and what do I do? It is a stackable

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @ 17:36 Friday afternoon.
Does the water vent/drain into the same plumbing as a sink? If so I definitely suspect the sink u-tube needs a flush-out!
Hope this cures it!

There is a strong oil smell in the dryer

If you have recently painted or varnished inside your home the fumes in the air can create a hydrocarbon type smell in your dryer. This should stop as soon as the house is aired out.

Neptune dryer smells like kerosene!

The smell you are referring to is being caused by aldehydes. The gas burner has incomplete combustion is smothering. Make sure the moisture vent and pipe are not restricted. Try running the dryer with the moisture vent disconnected and see if the problem continues and make sure air flow thru hose is good. Also check outside where the dryer vent exits and make sure there is plenty of air flow. This particular dryer has an inducer fan that pushes the air to the burner and a blocked/plug vent will cause this. You may have to dis-assemble the dryer and inspect the burner compartment for lint build up and restrictions to burner compartment.

Gas dryer won't heat after a move.

Make sure the vent is not blocked. Run the dryer and feel for a strong air flow at the vent outside. The most likely cause is flexible vent hose used on the dryer is squeezed behind the dryer, blocking air flow. Don't use flex hose. You may have a lot of built up lint in the dryer vent pipes also, which would need to be cleaned out. Also, make sure you are still using the same type of gas. (natural vs. LP) If different, dryer would need to be converted for proper opperation.

Frigidaire Gallery Dryer Needs Two Cycles to Dry Clothes

A dryer needs to exhaust properly in order to dry no matter where it's situated. Insure that the venting is not crushed at the back and that it has a good strong air flow outside

Dryer gives off a strong odor which make my clothes smell.

if you have been painting or staining recentley the chemicals in these products are mixing with the mercaptin in the gas to cause the odour. The problem will correct itself when the fumes are gone.
