I have the same problem. What I found was the recorder will not recognize a disc that was inserted into the machine and then the machine is turned off. If I load a disc, either a -R or -RW, program the timer recording and DO NOT turn the recorder off, then the unit does make the recording. I called the Toshiba techs and the only thing they recomended was to return the machine to them for repair at a flat rate of $140. The unit only cast $180. A friend of mine has the same recorder and he is going to check if it will recognise a previously loaded disc after the unit is turned off and back on. Perhaps everyone with this problem should call Toshiba so they can make a firmware update for the DR4s. I hope this helps. MW

It sounds to me like you have a fault in the tuner circuit. I suggest you take it on for service.

Can i attach backup device to my lg HT356SD?

I would say yes, from what the manual says, the LG HT356SD has some Unique Features:

#1 Portable In : Listens to music from your portable device.
(MP3, Notebook, etc)

#2 USB Direct Recording : Records music from CD to your USB device.

Read the manual, on page 26 it will show you how to do it, I found it at www.theatresystem-manual.com under lg, or go directly to the link I provided.

After a timed recording the DVD is showing blank

Try to scan the DVD data into your PC using the trial version of TMPGEnc v4.0 Xpress if this can't find structure data then the recorder must have set the leadin data to show blank.

Doesn't stop recording

Make sure there is no time overlap on any of the programs you have on the recorder.

That is the most likely problem

Dish Network DVR 625 Problem with playback of recorded shows

It sounds as though the hard drive is about to go south on you soon and the receiver is going to need to be replaced however, in the interim you can change the options of the recordings and make it a default so that the recording continues past the end of the show. It is possible that extending this time will allow you to view the portion you want before it skips to the end. In order to do this press the guide button and select a program in the future. On the create timer screen select the option icon. You will now be at the timer options screen you can extend the time the recording will last after the end of the show and when it will begin recording prior to the show. I would also set this as your systems default so that it performs the same way regardless of what you are recording. According to the latest known receiver issues this is not identified as it is a common indication that the hard drive has an error internally. If this works I suggest that you have a replacement sent to you so that you do not lose the use of your DVR un-expectantly.Remember to watch all recorded events prior to replacement as you will lose that info when the receiver is swapped. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

DVR recording problems

i am not terribly familiar with these systems but there are probably two sattelite in ports on the back of the receiver, one is a line for watching one program or recording, the other strictly for recording, one of these inputs is probably no longer receiving signal

Short Recording Time

TiVO also plans for other upcoming shows in total recording time. So if you 12 hours recorded, and another 20 or so hours scheduled in upcoming all as don't delete, then it won't allow additonal shows manually
