Question about Dell Latitude C640 Notebook
I just installed Windows XP to the laptop (Dell Latitude C640 PC Notebook + DVD). Then if I insert a DVD disk to the DVD drive (D:), the drive tries to read the disk but nothing happens. If I click D: drive, a message pops up saying "please insert a disk to D:." But it seems to be able to read files from CD or other disks. What would be the problem? Thank you very much.
I'm assuming you have tried a different dvd also and no joy, but it may need a lens clean or it is unable to read dvd anymore as the tracks are closer together than a cd and the alignment of the laser is faulty. Notebook roms are replaceable but only mainly from your notebook manufacturer. You could also use an external dvd writer via usb, although this then doesn't make your notebook as portable, if you need to read a dvd disc.
