Editing the registry is risky. Use these instructions at your own risk.
First do a normal uninstall of your HP printer
If you have trouble installing officejet j4580, you may need to edit the registry and remove all HP items. Make sure you first go to control panel and delete all installed hp printers. Then go to Windows Explorer and delete all hp folders. Save a backup copy of your registry. Then find all HP registry keys and delete them.
Then restart your computer. Download the latest printer package from the HP site and save to a folder in your Documents. Then install the package from the download.

SOURCE: Upgraded to Mac OS X

If you still cant print despite the fact you have installed the right software specially drivers, that is the time you consult GCC to check if there is any compatible driver to your printer.

169: Erro fatal 02

Case 1 - PCL data problem
The printer displays Fatal Error 02 and a 24 digit number similar to 439834B4, 433AB434, 433AADE4 will appear, this can happen after a job using the PCL driver has been sent to the printer.
Care must be taken when diagnosing this fault to disconnect the interface cable from the printer before cycling the power. If the cable is still connected, the print job causing the fault may be retransmitted and the fault will reoccur, leading you to believe the printer has a permanent error.
The workaround to this problem is to move the file to be printed to a location with a shorter path-name and reprint it.
The permanent solution is to upgrade the driver to v1.1.1.

Case 2 - Network problem
The printer displays Fatal Error 02 and a 24 digit number similar to 020BFA8D00, 0BFAB31C, 0BFAD120 will appear, this can happen even when the printer is idle.
The problem is believed to be Netware related. The workaround is to turn off the Netware protocol on the printer.
The permanent solution is to upgrade the printer's network firmware to version 01.64.

49.4 C18 laserjet 4345

49.XXXX is a fatal catch-all error. Could be firmware problem, network, print job. If the error occurs when you try to print, clear the print queue. If the error occurs when the printer is just sitting idle, reseat the formatter. Try powering on without the network cable attached. If it still happens replace the formatter. Could be a corrupt print job being sent to printer. Print something else.

HP L7680 Error

  1. Check the cables connecting the printer to the computer and make sure they are secure.
  2. Turn the printer off and back on.Resetting the printer can sometimes bring it back online.
  3. Check the toner or ink cartridge. If your ink is low or empty, the printer won't function.
  4. Check for torn paper, paper clips, sticky label residue and other items that could be the cause of error

Hi, we have a GCC Elite XL 40N Printer at work on a network with about 12 computers attached to it. One day when I wasn't here, (so im not sure how it started) It started printing A LOT of sheets with...

This could be caused by a few different problems with the printer but here are some troubleshooting techniques that may help:

1. Check that the printer is able to print correctly on its own. Print out a configuration page from the printer or install the printer onto a new machine as a local printer and print out a test page. If this prints out as symbols, the problem is a most likely hardware error and the printer will need to be serviced. Try step 2 before servicing. If the printer prints normal characters, go to step 3.

2. Carefully go through the settings on the printer and review the printer's configuration page to make sure everything has the correct settings and nothing was changed accidentally.

3. The most common problem is that the drivers on the print server, or on the server computer, have become corrupted. In Printers and Faxes on the print server, delete all the drivers for the printer, reinstall them, and then add the printer again. Make sure to print a test page at the end of the add printer wizard.

4. It could be a problem with the ethernet cable so try swapping the current ethernet cable with a new one.

5. If it is still printing symbols at this point, it is most likely a hardware issue and the printer will need to be serviced.

Hi, I can't use the printey GCC Elite, XL 20/600, after I have installed system Mac OS X 10.6.6 I can't see the printer now. I tried to use drive from the GCC site, but It was nuless. What I can...

you should connect using ethernet. (probably no other way at this point, unless you found some crazy adapter, i guess)

click the apple logo in the upper left corner.

select system preferences:

select network:

select ethernet:

you have two choices, you can either write down the computers IP address and use that in the printer. or you can manually set your own here by choosing "Use DHCP with manual address"

if you already have a bunch of stuff networked, you probably shouldn't change your IP. but if the current IP isnt one you can set your printer to, then you'll have to change it here.

lets say your computer IP is set to 192.000.001.001

in printer your printer menu:

go to interfaces:

go to tcp/ip (make sure it's enabled): ip class C, subnet mask FFFO, go to IP address

set to 192.000.001.002 (it needs to be almost the same as the computer, but with the last number different)

in preferences: printers: add printer:

Protocol: LPD

Address: 192.000.001.002:515

[THE 515 AT THE END IS THE PORT NUMBER, ITS SUPER IMPORTANT]

Queue: EliteXL [ALSO IMPORTANT]

Name: gcc (doesn't matter)

Print using GCC Elite XL 20/600 v3.31 (or whatever driver you have)

hints if those numbers didnt work for you:

I got the queue number and port number by printing the config page directly from the printer (not the help page)

On the config page, look for "interfaces"

under that, look for "TCP/IP"

under that, look for "Lpd"

there you will find the queue name and port number. this info was missing from a lot of the other online solutions i found and it didnt work until i got it right. (use the port number listed above the queue name, not the one listed below after TCP)

Take the printer off the network. (Remove the network cable) Then enter the menu and select network menu. You want to change the settings as described below:

Change the Hublink Setting to "100 base tx full"
Change the FTP Setting to "Disable"

Once done and machine says online, shut it off, reattach the network cable and restart the printer.

You may also want to change the printer's IP address.

If this does not help, or you cannot get past the 002 fatal error then the machine will require service.
