Olympus mr-100 mp3 player

When i turn on my mrobe it says "Invalid/Missing File", then it freezes like that until the battery dies. (but i can still use the player as the portable harddrive as long as i don't 'turn it on'.)

there are two solutions to the "invalid/missing file" problem.

    1) push the reset button located on the bottom of the player (about the size of 7MM pencil lead).

    2) reinstall the m:robe program (reprogram the player). you'll have to find the program on the internet (it's out there somewhere), plug in your player and basically run the program to reprogram it.

    3) call olympus?

I formatted the MR-100 and was getting invalid file and it stop working.

I disconnected it from the cradle and connect the USB directly into the MR-100. I got pass the invalid file and it hanging up. I loaded some music to the MR-100 and it began to work but would not come up the the Mrobe logo. I was able to get to mount back in the cradle. I then started with the oldest firmware and ended with oldest firmware upgrade to the MR-100. The firmware puts it back into the right format. It's working again. Hallelujah!!

This is a photo of the inside of the M-robe. I tried the suggestions you gave with no improvement. I did notice that the other end of the hdd lead where it connects to the mother board was not straight in the board socket

When you remove this lead from the motherboard, make sure you don’t bend it or stress it out of shape. before you attempt to put this lead back in, make sure the small plastic lock strip is lifted out of the way. Then press the lead firmly back onto the receptacle. Then lightly press the plastic lock strip back over where the connector is on the board here. If you have completed this connection correctly and no other damage has been done, your M-Robe should start up. Good luck

If your m:robe is frozen there is a very little hole on the bottom of it that you can poke the back in an earing or a pencil lead into. This is the restart button and everything should work fine

M:robe error invalid/missing file

hello, i had the same problem. recently, i had deleted all the files off of my mr-100. i downloaded this file.
http://www.esnips.com/doc/b15238f2-5133-43e4-b8c4-353375b77088/System_Index
Once you unzip it, drag the System Folder and the Index.mum file directly onto your m:robe. then pull it off the dock. you might have to push reset.
i couldnt get the "invalid/missing file" screen to go away for a while. if you slide the hold button into the hold position and then push the little reset button on the bottom, it will remain off and you can put it on the dock, then it will connect to the PC.

4 small (tiny!) screws ... one either side at top and 2 at bottom, then pull the case away from the unit , catching the rubber bit that will fall out of the 'phone socket!. the 2 stickers are actually on the hard drive (bottom of unit) you just shove a flathead jewellers driver in the grid to the right and move the arm up and to the right. THIS SHOULDN'T REALLY WORK, BUT IT DOES!
