We have also seen that Adobe Acrobat doesn't produce very clear scans (with a range of scanners). Adobe gives very good pdf file size but it downsamples images.

try scanning book mode (lift the feeder and use a single sheet) if it is ok clean the small glass on the left side.
or there may be some dust on the mirrors.

According to the manual, the part number for the ADF Document Assembly is VRC70001, but you may want to verify this with Ricoh before ordering, because the assembly is not shown in the parts diagram, only listed in the chart.

I think the color ink in your printer is low or finished, that is why the print out are in black, i will advice you replace the color ink cartridge, in other to keep you moving.
You can get the color ink cartridge at either at amazon.com or ebay.com.
