Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My Hotpoint Aqualtis displayed the F05 message last night. I completely unclogged the pump by removing all hoses and cleaning. I checked water runs through pump fine before re-assembling and then checked water drains now using the pump out cycle. All grand a fixed.. Or so I thought :-( I put the machine on a wash cycle and it fills with water but then at some point it just stops, with a load of water inside, and the screen says 'attention, washing machine cannot fill with water'. I'm stumped because it HAS water in it. A lot of water in fact. Anyone any ideas? :-(

SOURCE: Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash - Wash Cycle not holding water

Since your washer worked fine while in Germany and now is exhibiting this problem at your new home, you may want to double check how it was installed. I suspect you may have a problem known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

This could be a simple situation where the drain line on the washer is not installed correctly. There are minimum height and length requirments on the drain line. In addition, make sure the stand pipe you have the drain hose inserted in has a proper air gap to allow draining. All of this is explained in the link provided.

I hope this information is helpful to you. The majority of the situations arise from improper installation and is not an operaitonal problem with the washer. If, however, you double check everything and still have problems, please post back and let me know.

Washing machine has f05 flashing on a hotpoint machine it wont pump out and cant get door open

Hi there,

The error F05 indicates that the pressure switch is jammed on full.

The only thing you can do your self is to check the filter is not blocked.
Remove lower rear panel of washer, locate and remove large black hose fatened to bottom of tub, watch out for water running out.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside hose.
Refit filter and hose, test for leaks.
If problem still persists, then could be faulty pressure switch or blockage in the pressure system.

Good Luck!!
Thanks

Error code F05 indicates that the water level switch is stuck in the closed position, this is probablly due to a blocked filter or pump.
To gain access to the pump and filter, remove the lower rear panel of washer, locate and remove large black hose fastened to the bottom of tub.
Remove filter inside hose and clean, check inside pump for any blockage or restriction, and make sure the plastic chamber is clean where the small plastic hose is fastened to, as this goes up to the water level switch, and can sometimes get blocked.

Refit filter and hose, making sure it is securely on and fastened, and test, if fault still persists, then you will probably neeed to fit a new water level switch, or preesure switch as it is usually called.
Please rate my solution to your problem.
Thankyou.

Error f05

Check that water is draining out o/k and that the outlet hose is not kinked or restricted.
Make sure pump is o/k.
if it has a removable filter at the front, then remove and clean.
If no exterior filter, then remove rear panel of waher, locate pump at bottom right of m/c. undo the clip that secures the large black hose to the bottom of tub, and remove the hose.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside the hose.
Refit and make sure the hose is on properly, test for leaks.
Hopefully, this will solve the prob.

Hotpoint wd640 code f05

The filter is located at the rear of the m/c behind the removable panel at bottom of m/c.
Remove lower panel and locate the large black hose at the right side, undo the fixing clip, and remove hose, be careful as there will be some water run out.
You will see the filter inside the hose, remove and clean, check pump is clear, refit hose, make sure you get it on properly,,and test for leaks.
Plz rate my solution. Thanks, and a merry xmas.
