Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P8 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Lens stuck Please help me, I tried to turn on my camera today (it had been working fine before) and when I tried to switch it on the lens would not fully it open and my camera was making a whirling noise. The screen is black and will not take photos. The lens won't open fully and when it does eventually close has difficulty doing so. The camera then makes a beep beep beep noise and displays "Please turn the power on and off again". Please help I can't live without my camera and can't afford to fix it (I believe it costs about £70). If someone could suggest ways to fix this problem I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Does anybody know why this happened and how much it would cost to repair please? If anybody could recommend somewhere to repair it I would also be very grateful.

If the lens is not coming out, its stuck, or it wont completely open or close, that is the lens assembly, that needs to be repaired. You need to take it to somebody, that can either repair it or replace it for you. There is nothing that can be done, other than that......

Does there is something happened when you turn on the camera? If you can heard sound made by the len or the camera try to open but turn off in a second? If so, there is something wrong with the lens, and this how to fix camera lens error will be helpful. Else, if the camera are without any reaction you can check it the joint of the camera to battery is well.

Hi there first of all I like to say its a common problem. Its happens when the lens guide pin damage or dislocate. Another general reason is scratch or dust on the Lens barrel or body. So please follow the steps below and let me know the result.

Hi there please follow the steps and let me know the result.
1. Ensure batteries are fully charged & clean the battery connector point in side the battery compartment.
2. Look carefully between the lens and the camera body for any sand, dirt or any damaged etc.
3. Try turning the camera with the lens facing down and shake to dislodge anything stuck
4. Try removing batteries and memory card, wait 5 minutes and refit the battery only.
5. Now turn on camera( with out card ) and see ,if working then fix the memory card & again turn on the camera. If working then fine . Otherwise format the memory card and fix back in camera again & try. Make sure before format the memory card take a back up all photos in your computer then format. If no luck then reset or restore the camera setting by pressing Menu key for 2 sec .. in not done the press both Menu & self time key for 2 - 4 sec.
I hope it will gives you success. Thanks & Before you leave, if you have found my information helpful and if you haven't already done so then please press the ACCEPT button, this is how I am paid for helping you today. POSITIVE feedback & bonus is appreciated

Cannon G7 need help

Hi
Had the same problem a few months ago. There was a high pitchedwhisltle and I think the screen said "lens fault.turn off camera" or something similar.Bought a G9 to replace as the 7 was out of guarantee but sent the 9 back to the e-bay reseller as it was obviously secondhand with grit around the lens ring and the viewfinder.Ebay never again!.So 3 months ago ago I tried the G7 again with a fresh charged battery before I consigned the camera to the loft.I noticed that each time i switched on the whistle and message was there but the lens extended slightly further each timeso I kept rebooting until the lens was fully extended.Turned the camera off and on again and everything was back to normal. It seems that this may be Canons protocol when a camera goes back. Its been absolutely fine until today. It wont boot up at all.I have tried 2 fresh charged batteries and its dead.Any ideas anyone?

DCR-HC96 Automatic Lens Cover won't open

Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.
if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.

Lens error

This may be related/helpful: My S3 in normal home use (no sand, wet or shock) just now displayed the ?Lens cover error? message, with cover only half open. Using a tooth pick I ?eased? it gently and it popped open, took a few trial pictures- fine, but would not fully close unless eased. Now will open and close slowly on own but error message blocks camera use. Then spotted cause - a loose thin sliver of silver trim from below flash around (there?s a gummy substance where it should be). When I first saw one end of this it was between the lens cover and the camera body as tho part of the mechanism, so I did not touch it. Now I know it?s jamming the lens cover operation is it OK to open the camera case to get it out? Questions: (a) Has anyone done this please? (b) Will this clear error message? Thanks.
