I was recently given a 10 year old Hitachi 60ux58b TV. I was told that it had a problem with the blue projection and if I could fix it, I could have it. So... here I am. I'll try and describe. Basically, I moved the TV in, ran Magic Focus, and it worked fine. A day later, the blue tube seemed out of alignment... it causes somewhat of a blue shadow to everything. Especially noticeable on words. I got the TV into manual adjustment modes, but I can't get the blue line to move. The red will adjust with no problem. So I've obviously got an issue in the convergence area somewhere. Can anyone shed some light on where to look? I'm looking for the service manual and schematics for this unit, unsuccessfully so far. I guess I would rather try replacing circuits/chips/etc myself, rather than spending $500 for the local repair shop. It's good learning for me, and if I do break it, I'm only out the cost of parts. If anyone can recommend a solution or where to look for the manual, I'd appreciate the help.
I realize that you posted this almost two years ago but I was wondering if you were able to get it fixed. I have the same tv that has the exact same problem from the looks of your picture. Let me know how it worked out for you. Thanks
The IC's are IK04 and IK05 on Hitachi TV's. They should be STK392-110's you will need to replace the one that controls the blue. On most Hitachis just resoldering the IC's will fix the problem but, if not I would replace both if you do anything.
You are right about the convergence. You need to replace the part which controls the blue alignemnt or open the case and see if the wire is shorted. The could be why it moved a little one day and then got nothing. If you can't replace just he blue convergence/alignemnt component you will have to replace the entire alignment fixture. I would ask a tv repair shop in a big city or call the company's own repair holine and see if they can suggest the fix or get you the part at least.

Here's a photo of what I see. Also, according to the test mode, it reads an error #4, which shows up as "Overflow". Any further suggestions? Thanks for the help so far.
mine is not the blue but red.
