We are able to print using HP laserjet 1160 on network from Dell laptops but not from HP compaq laptops?

HP director? the admin utility. most likely yes...Photo viewer, most likely NOT...are the 3 that can't set up differently(permissions) than the other five?

Hi, maybe the printer is in EconoMode. To disable EconoMode please open the printig preferences in Windows. On the Paper/Quality tab or the Finishing tab, deselect the EconoMode checkbox.

Always try downloading the appropriate driver first, but if it just doesn't work you can always use the postscript version of the HP Laser-jet 4 driver in the Windows driver list and still get most functionality under Vista on almost all HP laser printers.

Solution for your printer problem
First of all have you checked, If the printer is set as default.
Option2 usb printer cable maybe faulty. As it can slow down the
comunication from the computer to printer.Try that first. If no joy then try download another driver from the internet. www.printcountry.com This is the link for your printer/driver if you need to use.
