Software malfunction For a year, this software worked fine. Now, alghough the SMC software detects my wireless network, it can't figure out a way to connect. Also, often the SMC adapter software will open for a split second and then disappear. Very frustrating, I've spent a good two hours with SMC support people trying to trouble shoot this, and they suggested it might be something with my wireless router, but just the other day, a friend was able to connect to the internet in my place with no problem... so it seems there some bug in the SMC software... Thanks for your help.

I also have similar problem. It would occasionally disconnect randomly showing 'limited connection' or 'malfunction usb detection' message. After that happened, I'm offline until I restart the computer. Heck, my pc froze some time when I try to mess with it in device manager, and the instant I pull the smc usb out, my pc resumes normally. It also gave me a blue screen (code bf) at one time. I'm using window vista by the way, so that might be the problem

I assume they told you to uninstall the software, remove the adapter, then re install driver an re insert adapter, as this normally cures the driver fault. If they didn't try that, if the problem persists the adapter may be faulty although i think it's a software problem. Try not to use Windows to repair connection as it never works and resets your pc's ip address differently than your routers already given it.
