Screen has red etch a sketchlike lines on it?

The tv works ok except for a red lighted area about 3/4 of the way down on the right side. The red etch a sketchlike lines are not in the same area. TV was repaired once when we first got it but I can't remember exactly what they fixed. I think the colors were way off. That's all that has ever gone wrong with it. It is a Hitachi Ultravision Digital the thinner model # 50v500.

SOURCE: I Have a Hitachi Ultravision projetion TV Ned help to fix it.

This sounds like the solder joints on one of the convergence output IC's have cracked loose or the IC itself is defective and quitting when it warms up. The IC needs to be either resoldered or replaced.

Hello
This is usually not a repair a layman is able to do
as the ammount of plugs and wiring that go with it.
also the tubes have to be set up after installation .
The actual problem may be the red driver transistor or a cold solder joint.
I recommend a tec. to repair it.
Thanks Guy9

SOURCE: HITACHI ULTRAVISION 50v500

the problem is most likely a defective light engine, it is a very commen problem with these tvs. hitachi is not very forthcoming with information or help unless your still under warrenty, i have talked with a few people about this and have found a lawyer starting a class action suit, if interested here is a segment of another conversation with all the info to get you started. " let other Hitachi TV owners know about the Class Action Lawsuit against Hitachi regarding the defective optical light engine. They need to call the Law Firm in Dallas Texas, HORP & B, that you mentioned is handling the case and talk to Victor @ 1-877-308-7900. They are taking documentation and cases regarding this suit and people that feel like they have been treated unfairly wherein Hitachi denied sending them a new optical light engine @ n/c need to call and state their case. "
good luck with your problems

My Riso MZ790 drum leaks

there is a seal under the screen that consists of two layers. if you remove the master clamp from the drum by removing the four screws that hold it down, and then unscrew the end of the screen held down by two screws, you will find the two seals that are on top of each other. one is red and one is like a clear plastic with little fingers on it. Take both off and clean them and that area of the drum. Then, using a thick, gummy double sided tape (3M makes a good one available at most hardware stores) reapply the clear seal. there are little lines etched in the metal to help you line it up. The red seal should stay down on its own if everything is cleaned right. There is no adhesive on it. Put everything back together and your good to go. Good luck.

Red vertical line down right side of the screen

hi

I think your TV have a trouble inside lcd panel
the controller board contains driver IC. Deffective driver IC can cause of line display.
572f3bf.jpg

Three reasons why one vertical line accross screen can happen in LCD;

1.The missing signal from the controller IC to
LCD driver.
2. LCD driver IC itself defective
3. Dry contact in the tape carrier package.

Use masking or electrical tape to mark it where the line was located. press it if the line back to normal but when release your hand came back i think it was intermittent. Open the LCD panel

Screen fades to blue.

The Blue SCREEN setting is too high. These adjustments are located inside the TV behind the front panel. There are two screws behind covers and then a wooden panel to remove to access the adjustments. The leftmost set are for BLUE, the middle are GREEN, and the right are RED. The top row are FOCUS and the bottom are SCREEN. Focus will focus/unfocus the tube and Screen will adjust the power of that tube (there are 3 tubes, one for each color). If Screen is adjusted too high, horizontal lines will appear (my TV had red lines, but I played around with the knobs and saw that it could happen on any of the colors). Additionally, if SCREEN is set even higher than that, the tube could go so high that it turns the whole screen that color (in your case, blue). If this happens the TV will shut down, probably due to either overheating or overvolting. To fix this issue, turn the appropriate SCREEN dial down until the lines go away. In your case, you want to turn the lower left dial down. Don't turn it too far down, if you turn it more than necessary the TV can give you an AKB error (noted by the STANDBY light flashing a sequence of 5 blinks).

Vertical line on side of LCD TV

Modern televisions have screens divided into sections. Each section controls all the rows in its area, and it is controlled by its own video separate video driver. If you are missing a line in a section, then a problem has occurred with the driver board in that area. It will be pretty expensive to fix, I hope your warranty has not just expired!

Check the resistors in the red convergence circuit right next to the Ics you will need to lift one side of the resistor out of circuit to acurately check them but usually one or two resistors will be opened when the ICs go out
