Question about Panasonic NN-P294SF Microwave Oven
NN-P294 Stainless purchased Fall of 2006. Cabinets rebuilt to fit new microwave. Turned microwave on first time 22Jan2007 to find no solution to 3 second shutdown. Travis Gibbs also reports this problem. Tim Lechtenberg Rochester Hills, MI
This model uses an inverter to produce high voltage. That symptom is an usually indication of a problem with the inverter. Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models. And of course at less than 1 year, this would still be under warranty if you have your sales receipt. You should be able to locate a Panasonic-authorized servicer here: http://www.pasc.panasonic.com/WhereTo/FindServicer.asp?Pass=1 I would mention the exact symptom when you call so the technician can bring a new inverter with him when he comes out to repair it. Might save you having it pulled into the shop. Good luck!

Our NN-P294 had this same 3 sec shut down when we 1st bought it. Got it fixed took about 3 weeks fro them to get the parts. Now only 2 years later the door lact mechanism does not open the door. With my soup inside and the latch not working I had to take the microwave down and take it apart only to find that the 3 PLASTIC latch parts had broken. We had no kids, just my wife and I use it we are mid 40's in age and have not abused to door open button in anyway. Lousy design for an opening mechanism PLASTIC!!!
