Microphone My microphone is not working. I have checked volume control. Not muted. Help

I think you are using Windows XP.
Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Volume Control
See if there is slider for Microphone & Mute button.
If it is not then go to Options - Properties in Volume Control Menu
Make a check mark against Microphone. Say OK.
You will find the Microphone slider & Mute button.
Remove the check mark against Mute if it is there & advance the Microphone slider control to your required level. Your microphone is ready for use.

Under VOLUME tab adjust Device Volume as necessary. Also (under Loudpeaker Settings) click Speaker Volume and adjust slider to suit.

However - if you cannot get enough volume on the microphone you may need to purchase a pre-amplifier to boost the signal strength before input to the computer.
