Make sure connections are going-audio out from tv to d-tv/cbl in on back of reciever. Then turn on tv and turn reciever input to d-tv/cbl and make sure the input mode is on auto. Hope this helps you.

Can't hook up to a flat screen tv

I can only guess as to the nature of your problem, but I'll try. If you're trying to hook up your amplfier and its a 5.1, or 6.1 amp you need to hook up the audio by using the orange output on the flat screen, it may be labeled "coax" or "hd audio out" or surround out, this is the one wire you need to reproduce the surrond sound with left, right, center and rear speakers, and also the sub woofer. The other outputs on your tv will be red and white or red and black, these are the analog audio out and you plug them into your amplifer too, but they won't be 5.1 sound, although your sub woofer will still work. I hope I have helped some.

Cant get the reciever to read the optical cable that is hooked up to the TV. Surrond sound is not working Radio does, any solutions? All new cables and Sony LCD

bpatz,

All systems with multiple audio/video inputs for each connection must be told what connection you want it to play. Most likely your selected choice of input is set to an input other than digital.

First select the input you are using, then change the input mode to digital auto; look in the manual for the exact steps. It should take a few seconds to switch over and then you will be in business.

LG LFD790: surrond sound only DVD mode?

go to the DVD screen and hit home button, scrool to the "EZ" icon and it will say AUX or OPTICAL. Chose OPTICAL and swich back to cable and you should have sound. This will work, and no the manuel does not tell you this and most techs have no idea. Best luck

Don't have manuel and don't know how to Set up Hitachi VCR

Such a simple job. First check if the cables are connecred properly
1. Audio OUT from VCR to AUDIO IN of TV.
2. Video OUT from VCR to VIDEO IN of TV

Then switch the TV ON. Select 'Video' on the TV/Video
selection button on the TV's remote control.
Your TV screen will show a display like 'Video' or 'AV'
Play a cassette and you should be able to see the picture...
Happy Viewing.

Surrond sound

For Stereo Mode (Front L & R Speaker), you must plug RCA cables (match up red and white) from Output on DVD player to DVD Input on the back of the receiver. Then with speaker wire, run from receiver speaker output (Front Speakers) to designated speaker (make sure + and - match up to both input and output). As for hooking up surround sound, I'm currently trying to figure that one out with just using the L, R and Center. I don' t want wire running all over the place just for rears. Hope this helps
