Waterbug The part number 696876 for the timer is still good part number. It is still available and it did not cross to different part number. Why you had to get the timer with different part number? If you will give me the complete model number for your dryer I can find for you the right timer and the best deal to buy it. Gendos.

What you can do is go to www.repairclinic.com. go to parts search and type in your dryer model number. it will show you all the parts that your dryer takes. they will show the timer that fits your dryer and just buy it.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

There is only cold air in my kenmore elect dryer

The motor runs on 120VAC. The heating element requires 208/240VAC. Cycle the dryer circuit breaker. Other than a simple issue like that, the problem could be a bad heating element, thermostat, high limit control, thermal fuse, motor centrifugal switch, timer or electronic control. It can also be a wiring issue.

Kenmore dryer

IF THE DRYER COMES ON BY ITSELF WHEN THE TIMER IS SET AND THE DOOR IS CLOSED, THE PUSH TO START SWITCH IS SHORTED. THIS WILL CAUSE THE END OF CYCLE SIGNAL TO BUZZ WHEN THE TIMER IS IN THE OFF POSITION(END OF CYCLE).UNPLUG THE DRYER, REMOVE THE BACK PANEL OF THE CONSOLE, AND REMOVE ONE WIRE FROM THE PUSH TO START SWITCH. ISOLATE IT SO IT ISN'T TOUCHING ANYTHING AND PLUG THE DRYER BACK IN. SET THE TIMER AND CLOSE THE DOOR. IF IT DOESN'T START UP OR BUZZ, UNPLUG THE DRYER AND REATTACH THE WIRE. PLUG THE DRYER BACK IN AND SEE IF IT STARTS BY ITSELF. IF IT DOES, THE PUSH TO START SWITCH IS SHORTED AND WILL NEED REPLACED.

Kenmore Dryer Timer does not advance

Timer resistance is way too low. You may have misswired the new timer. Basically, when the dryer motor is running, the timer motor gets voltage 115 volts.
