Mp3 froze up

try pulling the batteries with nothing attached, the return batteries, power on, connect to PC. Ensure that the drivers for that USB port on the PC are working fine.

I had the yp-t10 plugged into usb, needed media player v10 in xp to get it to see the damn thing

Your battery is dead. I would attempt to replace that before anything else. Hopefully, you have a one year warranty (rather than 90 days). Good luck!!
