650 refrigerator door light switch

If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working correctly the water supply tube in the door may be blocked. This will be difficult to track down. Look for a connection point at the bottom or top of the door, try removing the hose and blowing air through it and out the dispenser. Next it could be the water valve that sometimes has twin valves for ice and water combined, third is low pressure into the line (bad main valve) or clogged filter... you need about 20psi for function. Last is the door switch, when the freezer door is opened the freezer door switch does two things, it turns on the light in the freezer and turns off the ice and water dispenser. If the door switch fails the dispenser will not turn on or may just dispense one item. The switch can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter. If it doesn't have continuity it should be replaced.

Just a bad door switch. Turn the unit off, remove the upper grill, then remove the cover over the switches. there are 2. 1 with a black backside, and one that is all white. you want to replace the all white one with a new all white one. it just has 2 wires, doesn't matter what order they go in. pull em off and pop that thing out, then snap the new one into place. all of this should be done with the power off and the door open. Control panel lights are behind the panel, so if the compartment lights are on the panel is lit. If no lights are on when you open the door, check your door switches as you may find the light switch has failed. Look there first, no lights, possible just a bad switch.

Typically the second switch is for the ice dispenser and fan,when the door is open the fan and the ice dispenser power is cut off via that second switch

The door switch has 3 terminals and wires on it. Jumper the wire that does NOT turn on the light to the wire that is on C of the door switch. If you look at the switch it will have one wire distant from the other 2.... that wire is the power wire "C". You jumper that to the wire that would be attached to the "NO" terminal. After you jumper the wire... and TAPE IT with electrical tape the door alarm should be silenced and the internal light will NOT work until you replace the switch. Label the remaining wire with masking tape... NC and Actually label all 3 wires as you remove them... C, NC and NO. Just use write that on a strip of masking tape and then put it on like a horseshoe pennant.

On sub Zero's this has been a common problem. Pressing with your finger to test isn't good enough. You have to test the switch function, by slowly closing the door to see if the DOOR turns off the lights.
There are so many lights in the food compartment producing so much heat that if the lights are on with the door closed, it will not cool.
When I run into this problem, which is common, I take a thin plastic shim
and tape it on the part of the door that hits the switch. 2" x 3" shim will
work well. If that solves the problem, I put a few drops of crazy glue on the shim and remove the tape a day later.
If the switch has 4 wires to it, the second 2 wires run the fan in the fresh food compartment. You can test that by pressing the switch and listening to see if you can hear the fan in the fresh food compartment start up.

Go to Sub Zero.com and click the showroom locator on the top left of the screen. This will take you to a locator to find the authorized parts distributor for your area I believe the part number is 3060140 have themm check it using your model and serial number. . Once you have the part remove the three phillips head screws that hold the grill in place this is assuming you don't have the louvered grill. There is a grey power cord with a white quick connect seperate this or turn the power off at the circuit breaker. You will be working on live electricity if you don't.Not good for your life expectancy. There is one more phillips head screw for the cover of the two switches. The light switch has a white back and the fan switch has a black one. Remove the two wires then push it down and slip the new one in. Replace all that you took off. While you have the grill off vacuum the condensor.

you can check the bulb's resistance if they still have. they could be both busted. if they have, the problem could come from thre door switch if you have mechanical door switches that controls bulbs. on the LED read outs, you could have a loose connection to the main board because if the board is not functioning well, then you should not have a cooling refrigerator.

Check continuity on door light switch with ohmmeter (turn off power and disconnect wire harness at switch first) Probably a second switch that turns compressor off if door open. my 690 sub zero had a bad light switch that was stuck on initially but now only works if I wiggle it. Can a person buy parts online? Some new subzeros have a fuse panel behind the compressor grill??
Just bought a used 690 and found a nice wiring diagram for a model 630 or something in a nice ziplock pouch behind the compressor grill. Look there for clues.

super...sounds like the switch you're pushing is damaged. test it.
