You had at first either a power supply or pincussion circuit problem.
Going to likely be a shop repair unless you can find a schematic and know what to look for.
A good idea would be with set unplugged take a look inside for anything popped or even burnt.
In the power area look for any bad caps.
If in the power supply they will be larger but should look something like the above.

Okay there is something wroung with the frount panel there may be debris in where the button is depressed or seomthing is depressing the button or it may be just going out on you.
1. take off the frount cover and examine the channel up and down make sure its clean and there are no debris.
2. if that does not work replace the controller board aroun $65 bucks.
I do not know your zip code but you can give these folks a shot www.teexp.com you can call and ask how much it would cost to replace this controller even though they might not work in your area they still can give you a price.
Thanks

This is a very common problem for this TV. You have a blown solder in fuse by the high-voltage transformer. It is caused by bad solder connections on the transformer itself. Solder the transformer and replace the fuse and you'll be as good as new! An honest professional should not charge more than $200 to do this.
SOURCE: my d52w14 wont turn on
you have shortcircutted a fuse either on the plug or internally
its a quick and cheap fix should be less than £50
unless you have damaged some other stuff in it but you shouldnt have unless it was faulty and the fuse wasnt working properly
it works like the circut breakers in your house but the fuse needs to be changed everytime it is activated
