Dishwasher will fill and drain, but will not cycle!

After installation, the dishwasher would fill and drain but not cycle - I was looking underneath, checking for leaks, looking for anything out of place, and making sure all the connections were good - I touched something that made the dishwasher start up and run. That was the first and last time it has run a full cycle. It will still fill and drain, but not run a cycle. The wife is becoming very perterbed with me! Maytag says they do not support self diagnosis and the guys at Home Depot have no answer either. Any Tips or Hints as to what to look for? Thanks!

I have a g676 miele dishwasher. It flooded due to a block in the kitchen drain. No water comes in the dishwasher any more.

I have seen the float in the drip pan stuck in the up position before. If this happens, it wont let your machine fill. You will have to check underneath to confirm if this has happened.

How do I fix my Danby Dishwasher? It fills with water then immediately drains.

Most likely the flood switch is triggered. This causes the pump to operate as soon as you start it. Check if the float at the base comes up when you press it by hand. If not the float spring might be stuck and pressing the flood switch underneath.

My dishwsaher wont drain water

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

Our Bosch dishwasher has water filling back in bottom of dishwasher after cycle is complete. You can empty dishwasher and no water will be in the bottom, but several hours later the water has filled the...

Check the drain line underneath the sink.
It should be suspended just below the counter top.
If it is too low, water from the sink will back fill into the dishwasher.
If the drain is OK,then the dishwasher water valve is defective.

Dishwasher is leaking from underneath between rinse cycle and drain cycle

Pull it out and remove any covers so you can look at:

1. The Drain Valve
2. The Fill Valve
3. All hoses and clamps during this part of the cycle.

One of the seals in either valve may be bad or one of the hoses could be shot. Trace the leak and replace the faulty componet.

Kenmore 665.16039403 leaks water when filling

It is coming from the fill tube. You can pull the unit out or use a mirror to look up underneath. It might have come off or got a hole chewed in it.

If the cycle doesn't complete, check these:

Water-heating cycle
Timer
Water-heating cycle Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

Timer Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it.

More likely: the solenoid which directs the water to either the drain or the spray arm is clogged/jammed. Located underneath near the drain line.
