The meaning of specific error codes is known only to Philips themselves, but 'AB' errors are to do with the analogue board circuitry and unfortunately this signals that the machine may require a factory repair. However you have nothing to lose by performing a firmware upgrade, which cured the problem for some.

Make sure you use the correct firmware, depending on whether your machine is a Mk I or II. Note that ff9o is the only firmware you can use for the former.

I have got a dvd haier model hdv323001328 cannot view the picture after I dropped it on the floor, what could be the problem?

The worst case is unfortunately the most probable. The optical assembly is somewhat delicate, and the alignment is critical. Its ability to survive mechanical shock is not very high.

It's possible that the problem is a cracked circuit board, but the probability that everything works except it won't read a disk and the optics are still intact is rather low.

However, if it is able to read basic information on the disc, but nothing else, it could be a problem with the optical head carriage and the head still works.

You didn't mention whether it shows any video signal with no disc inserted, or whether any other operations were affected by the fall, so I assumed these functions are still normal.

My dvd has picture but no sound

Hi,
Try playing a DVD and then shoogling the SCART input at the back of the TV. Mine has a loose connection, but with a little careful movement at the TV SCART input I managed to get the sound working. Try that and let me know how you get on..

Hope this helps

Is there a way to update the software inside the DVD player

Very less manufacturers will provide firmware update for their devices. Try checking out the manufacturers website for update. But for DVD players, it shard to find out one.

Power on no response

Here is the link to the manual if you need it; http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/d/dvdr9... best i could come up with is: unplug machine, then plug it back in while holding down "open/close" and "stop" (Page 49) run through the diagnostics as explained on page 51. This link below gives you available drivers and updates, try updating/reinstalling the driver just in case it is a software issue; http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbin... If you still have no luck, please post again. Hope this helps :)
