Question about Sony FD Trinitron KD-34XBR960 34" TV

1 Answer

No signal unless on twin screen

Tv was working fine until I turned it off and then a minute later turned it back on. The only way I can get a signal is when it is on twin screen. Only the right side has a signal - left side black with no signal. When I select the right side of the screen then it goes back to no signal. What in the world did I do???

I purchased my 960 back in August of 2004 and I have loved it. However, yesterday the main tuner went out I think. I am having the same problem as above. The only time I get a signal is when the TV is in twin view mode. I would be happy to entertain any possible solutions short of the obvious which is call a repair man. Has anyone found a solution to this problem or one similar?

Since the PIP is working properly, I would think that the set is hooked up properly. Make sure that the main picture (the one on the left), is on the proper Antenna input, I.e. antenna A. If the hook up is correct and all inputs are correct, then, the problem is probably the main tuner.

No picture

My parents bought the same tv, TV ran fine for 2 years then started giving them problems. Blue light comes on then few seconds later turns to yellow. Turn tv off then back on it worked, until last week it would not turn on.

Took it to a repair shop they said it was a bad power supply and it will cost 50$ for this check up, as it turns out the total bill would be $650 minus the original $50 it would only cost you $600.

Needles to say i took the tv home with me. Since they were not going to use it i started looking at it took the back off, removed all heat shiels ect. Took my magnifing glass out and started looking at the power supply come to find out the part was made in China, it was missing a solder joint, pulled my old soldering gun out, five minutes later the tv came back to life.

i hope this helps.

PS3 No signal to the TV

I'm having similar problems. I had my PS3 on pause, whent out for a couple hours, came back to find a weird fuzzy screen. My PS3 had froze, so I turned it off. I turned it on a couple minutes later, and the green light came on, however, my controllers would not connect, no image was popping up and it also wouldnt turn off unless I flicked the switch on the back. After contacting Sony, they told me it could be an overheating issue. If it has been less than a year, they will replace it, NOT FIX IT. Which is great and all, but unfortunately I am about to lose the countless hours I've put into assassins creed, skate, call of duty 4 and motorstorm.

HOWEVER. If your PS3 is still "functioning properly" except for no signal, turn the power off on the back, turn it back on, press and hold the power button on the front untill you hear the second beep, let go, give it a couple seconds, turn it off from the back and then back on, hold it till the second beep again. Good luck.

P.S. I recomend getting the extra cooling fan for it, and saving game data on another card (SD) incase crap like this happens.

Its Sounds like Convergence Circuit,If you take the Back off and look on the right side you should see a Board with Big black Ics Mounted beside a Large Heatsink,Mark the wires where they go and Make sure the POWER is Off Pull the Board out and Inspect the Connections from the ICS,you find Circle Breaks,They need to Be resoldered and That should fix the Set....
