No colour Help! My friend gifted me a CH-DVD300S from US few months back. I use it in India now (PAL TV) and all dvd's, vcd's even jpegs are displayed in Black & White without color. Could someone please let me know how to get the color ? Is there some setting that I should change? Thanks!

Sony dav s550 dvd has no colour

Hello, welcome to Fixya!

The display setting is set to NTSC either on the TV or DVD that's why it is showing in black and white.

Check the DVD display settings and change it to Pal or auto, save and try again. Also, check the PAl settings on the TV.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, then it means there is an incompatibilty problem between the TV and DVD.

I hope the above is clear.

Check in menu for video options, Select pal, NTSC or whatever your country is transmitting. If auto option is available best to set it there. Check also sound options like I, BG, or DK and set again to your transmission,If you have a settop box make sure on other tv it is displaying coulour. saom also have sound and video options. Try to connect dvd with av cables and see if coulour is there. if still B&w get repair technician

Yes there is video format for our TV and dvd players. NTSC & PAL...

NTSC SYSTEM SELECTED IN TV & DVD PLAYER PLAY PERFECT NTSC CDS & DVDS, BUT IF PAL CD OR DVD IS INSERTED SUCH PROBLEM COMES.
EVEN IF, THE DVD PLAYER SETTING IS KEPT AS PAL, AND WE INSERTING THE CORRECT CD OR DVD AND ALSO IT SHOW BLACK & WHITE PICTURE, ETC.... so please check your video system in TV, DVD PLAYER and check the CD or DVD you are inserting is of same video format you have set in DVD player.

Convert ntsc to pal for sony bravia tv

While a modern PAL TV can display NTSC sources (namely DVD players and PAL VHS players that support pseudo-NTSC), an NTSC TV can not display a PAL source, unless it's an expensive multi-standard TV. Sorry pal, bad choice.

Set up video output

Pal output will only work when it is plugged into a pal tv. The only way you can restore is to use the remote to put the settings back to ntsc without using the display. That should work. If you don't have a pal tv you should never change devices to run on it, because it can damage your tv set. The scanning lines are very different between the two systems.

Original DVD plays black and white

It seems that you have get the color system setting of your Tv wrong. Sony uses the Pal(it's a format for the transmission of signals) color system , so check into your TV's color system settings and change it to pal , if that doesnt work then change it to Ntsc.

DVD wont play in colour

First we need to know how you are relating the video problem to the receiver. What video inputs are you using from your DVD player to the receiver, and from the receiver to the display you are using. What display are you using? The receiver does not control or modify any video sources... it only selects (switches) them, and is basically just a pass through.
