No diagram needed. All optical and hard disc drives will need to have power and data. If they are IDE, use those cables. SATA get SATA cables. The ports on the system boar will be labeled as SATA 1 and so on. If they are not the correct order when you boot, you can swap the cables or change it in the BIOS.
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) make sure they have dust free secure connections or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive)) if its a 40 pin IDE this will be the first to fail make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs continue its cycle power and data to travel through every working device and have an end point so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps you
check your IDE cable if its working or attach properly so the device will be detected, also check the power supply socket that series on each drive, might some wire not properly inserted or might the power supply itself is the problem.
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive)) make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps
set your computer's BIO settings to default through the F2 button then connect the IDE fast and make sure its the master with an Operating system on it then connect the SATA after the IDE has been detected.
You should attach two hard drives on primary ide. Set both jumpers to cable select ( or one on end is master, middle one is slave). The one at the end of the cable is where your o/s should be. You could try putting the third on seconday, along with your dvd rom.
That causes that switching from IDE to SATA connection..youR IDE drive can be read slower than the sata due to speed compatibility. The new PC now proccess slower to old hard drive or IDE. so thats matter. i experience that also so i remove the drive after copying all the files it and i set aside for storage purpose only.
first off does the motherboard have both sata and ide connections or just sata or just ide? (sata are small about maybe 1/2 inches in length and 1 mm wide and a ide connection is approx 5 inches long with about 4 inches long with over 100 pins and about 1/2 inches wide) i know that the opliplex 520 are nothing but sata so if it uses the same mobo as the 520 and you have ide then its imposible to install on your computer unless it either has a ide connection or you get a ide pci or pci-e controller card and install that onto the computer. but for the most part a ide connection needs a ide cable and a sata connection needs a sata cable.
