Bought this ice maker November 2012. Christmas gift for my wife. Used it once a month for 6 months. Drained it every time and wiped it dry. All of a sudden it started making only 1 cube and then none. Emerson wanted it shipped back and they would replace it. Would cost probably 1/2 the cost of it to ship it back! I'm by no means a refrigeratoin tech but I'm one of those people that can fix anything. I found a solenoid in the back that reroutes the freon to cause heat so the cubes fall off. Seemed like there was a vapor lock or piece of something stuck in the lines. Compressor as running but nothing was getting cold. I took the 2 blue wires off the control PCB. I made 2 jumpers and put it to a 110 extension cord. {solenoid is 110 VAC}. While the unit was running I plugged the extension cord in and out of the wall causing the solenoid to open and close. When the solenoid was open it caused heat to the coils which would make the cubes fall off. After repeaing this procedure a few times i left it unplugged with the machine on. Lo and behold the coild get cold now and make cubes again! Could it have been a vapor lock or a clog? Put it back together and it works fine now. I think it is a vapor lock being caused by how the machine is turned off and at what point i is in the cycle. This all started when it shut down for a full basket of ice. From now on when it gets close to being full I'm goin to shut it by the power switch in the front. This causes the unit to empty the water and actuate the solenoid. Hope this helps someone else and by all means if your not somewhat competent or handy dont do this on your own!

SOURCE: Ice maker is making hollow ice cubes, some only half frozen

Most ice makers have an adjustment screw to control the cube size. Its usually hidden behind a plastic panel on the front of the ice maker. A quarter turn either way and some trial and error testing should get you pointed in the right direction to your ideal ice cube.

SOURCE: kenmore frig ice machine doesn't make cube ice

Normally, the ice "cubes" are crescent shaped. The most likely cause for "crushed" ice is that the ice maker isn't getting enough water on its refill cycle after ejecting the tray. Becuase there isn't enough water, the ice looks crushed...it's actually shattered.

Check the water inlet and chute to the ice maker. Sometimes they freeze and have to be manually defrosted. A hair dryer will do the trick. Also check the water chute and be sure it isn't partially frozen.

Start there...if no luck you could also have a failing water filter or sticky water solenoid valve.

Only makes half the cubes

basis of my answer, is on the assumption, that all the slots have water, and only half are freezing,? if that's the case. check if there is any sealed system warranty... The highest probability suggests, you've lost refrigerant due to a sealed system leak. The cost of repair exceeds practical reasoning if not under a warranty I would invest my money into buying a new one.

My Emerson ice maker, will make the 1st round of 9 ice cubes, then it fills back up with water and makes a clicking noise and won't freeze anymore cubes I'm so sad, I don't have money to buy a...

If it won't freeze the cubes that because the freezer section is not cold enough to freeze them. the ice maker itself dose not have any cooling in it. it all comes from the freezer. sounds to me like there may be a problem with the ice maker and it may need to be replaced.
