SanDisk M240 won't let me save more mp3 files

Are you able toconnect it to a PC and access the unit as a mass storage device and delete the files that way?

1. Free a USB port on your desktop computer. Now, grab the USB cable for your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and connect the player to your computer. 2. Wait for your computer to find and recognize the player. This may take a few moments. Once you receive a confirmation message, open your computer and scan the icons for the SanDisk MP3 player. 3. Open the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player on your computer. The music files that you currently have saved to the player?s memory are displayed. 4. Open a folder containing music files that is stored in your desktop computer?s memory. Scan the files for songs that you want to transfer to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. 5. Left-click on a song file and drag to the SanDisk Sansa window. Drop the file and let your computer complete the transfer. The transferred file appears at the bottom of your music list. 6. Unplug your SanDisk Sansa player from your computer. Turn the player on and allow the file transfer to update to the internal memory of the MP3 player.

Try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. Make sure that you back your music up first because when you do this you are setting it back to factory settings. Then add music this way and see if it is works: 1. Check to make sure you stll have your driver for the player on your computer. If that does not work try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilities from the manufacturer?s website. 1. Connect the USB cable to your Sansa MP3 player, then hook the other end to a free USB port on your computer. 2. Give the computer time to recognize the Sansa MP3 player. Once it has, double-click on the MP3 player?s icon to view the music files stored to memory. 3. Scroll through the list of audio files until you find the ones that you wish to delete from the Sansa MP3 player. 4. Click on single items or click and lasso multiple files. 5. Right-click on the highlighted files to pull down an action list and from there select Delete. The computer will ask if you really want to throw the file away. Select OK. 6. Exit from the window, then disconnect the USB cable from the Sansa MP3 player. The player will automatically turn off. The memory will update the first time you turn the player on after deleting songs.

Format your m240 in FAT32. That did the trick for me.

• Step 5:Left-click on a song file and drag to the SanDisk Sansa window. Drop the file and let your computer complete the transfer. The transferred file appears at the bottom of your music list.
• Step 6:Unplug your SanDisk Sansa player from your computer. Turn the player on and allow the file transfer to update to the internal memory of the MP3 player.

Tips & Warnings

• When properly connected, the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player displays a USB Connected message on its LCD screen.
• The music files in the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player will have different icons next to their filenames which will tell the file type at a glance (MPEG, MPEG layer 3 or WMA, for example).
• Some songs feature copyright protection which may interfere with your ability to transfer music to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player.

Follow these steps to drag-and-drop music files to your Sansa player:
1. Connect your Sansa player to your computer.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Double-click on your Sansa player.
4. Double-click Internal Memory if you are using WMP 11 or double-click
Media if you are using WMP 10.
5. Drag and drop music files from your computer to the Sansa player’s MUSIC
folder.

The best thing to do here is to format this MP3 player using a computer, Just connect the player to your computer via USB and wait for the computer to recognize the device and if its already recognize, double click MYcomputer icon and you should see there the MP3 player , right click on the MP3 player and select Format and that should bring the original size of the MP3....

Creating Playlists on the Sansa M240

The Sansa M240 is a decent device, but if you are like many, you have not been able to create playlists. The instructions with the player and the maker’s website offer little help. Here a solution that I found on-line with some additional detail. The step by step instructions for even those with little computer savvy.

1. power up your M240 player without connecting to your computer. Scroll thru the menu to the “settings” menu. Select “USB”, deselect “auto detect” then select “MSC”. (I don’t know if this step is critical, but I picked up this suggestion from another site)

2. Power down the MP240 and using the cable supplied with your player, connect to the USB port of your computer. The display will show “MSC” when connected.

3. If you have not already done so, download the songs you want to include on your playlist from your computer to the M240. Any number of media player software packages will allow you to copy or burn your songs to a “portable media device” for this step.

4. After your songs are downloaded, on your computer, go to “My Computer” and open the "Sansa M240" icon. On the explorer task bar, select “view”> “details”. You should see several standard folders and all your songs. (Note I have used this for both .wma and .mp3 formats and have intermixed them in the playlist)

5. On your computer, open a new Notepad document and save it to your desktop.
Name it whatever you like, but it has to have “.m3u” as a file extension when you save it.
For example I named mine…. playlist1.m3u, playlist2.m3u, playlist3.m3u.

6. Next, in this newly saved notepad document, type this exactly on the very first line < #EXTM3U > without the brackets.

7. Now, find your first song in the open M240 folder, place your cursor on it, right click and select "rename". When the song title is highlighted hit control + C or "Copy" the entire title, being careful not to change anything. Now place your cursor immediately after the #EXTM3U text, hit return and paste the title of your first song directly below it with NO line space in between.

8. Repeat the steps to copy the title of your next song from the M240 folder. When copied, place your cursor immediately after the previous song title copied in the step above. Hit return Twice to create a single line space after the song title and paste in the next song title at the beginning of the line. Repeat this process til you have built your playlist.

8. After you’ve entered your last song title, it should look something like this. (Either .mp3 or .wma extensions can be used)

Now, within your notepad playlist document, click File/Save (noting where it was saved) and close the file. Now, find that same original playlist on your computer. Highlight it and copy / paste it onto your M240. I copied mine into a folder called “playlist” on the M240. Then I repeated the process for other playlists, giving each a unique name.

After allowing sufficient time for the file to copy, use the icon in the lower taskbar of your computer to “safely disconnect hardware” to unplug your player. Disconnect the USB cord, power up and your ready to enjoy your playlists.
