Hi, My Nexxtech DVD model SP3222 powers itself off after 5 seconds. It has been used maybe 4 times, and I have had it for just over a year. I have used it recently to play CDs and just today when I went to turn it on, the power light stayed on for 5 seconds and then it turned itself off again. I can't push any function buttons to keep it from turning the power off. I have tried several times but there are only so many buttons to try pushing. What would you suggest? Toni

Open tray, press on the remote, stop-2-3-7-9, press arrow down until 0 and press ok.
Make shure you put TV TYPE --> ntsc in the general setting
I tried this (on a multisystem set that can be "made to think" that it's a PAL or NTSC set as the case may be) and it worked. The Nexxtech DP3222 and the Entiveo DP3220 are basically the same unit except that (a) the hack for the Nexxtech doesn't require resetting every time you turn the unit on and off, unlike the Entiveo (this is really annoying) and (b) you can set the Nexxtech to multisystem, NTSC, or PAL standards, whereas the Entiveo is NTSC-only, but (c) the fast-forward on the Nexxtech is somewhat less intuitive than on the Entiveo (involves holding a button down). All in all, I prefer the Nexxtech, if only because it is more easily hackable. And I would have sworn that the Nexxtech had a blue screen saver on it before I started hacking it, because now it has a really gross-looking black-and-white screen saver. But I don't care about screen savers as long as the unit does what I want it to do.

Try a Laser Lens Cleaner disc.
It is a CD with brushes on the bottom to help clean the laser lens (used for reading discs). It can be found cheapest in grocery stores, then office supply stores, and finally most expensive in electronics stores. It will usually run you about five to ten dollars, and can be used multiple times on any disc drive.
