Try updating the drivers directly. Also check sound property settings by right clicking on your speaker icon on bottom right hand corner of your screen and then properties

look for audio devices

click once uninstall

go to top of that device mgr panel and scan for hardware changes

should pick up the device

Con I restore my HP M8200n to factory specs?

Sure if you have the restore disc if not you can get one from the factory. Or a Windows Operating System disc will also work as well. You will have to download driver files if your using XP disc. Win 7 works great for this type of situation loading drivers is easy with Win 7 recommend if you have the resources to handle it. John

Installing blu-ray drive on hp m8200n - dvds not read

Look at the back of both drives, there should be some tiny jumpers located next to where you plug the data cable in. One drive should be set to master and one drive to slave. Chances are you have both set as master. Change one to slave and your problem should go away.
