We have the same problem. We've used the camera exactly one day. We've tried recharging it, but we cannot seem to find a way to turn the camera off.

Mine was stuck also. I took it apart and couldn't get to the lens motor. I was able to push the lens back in and get the screen to come on. But with the lens closed teh screen shuts off and I'm back to square one. Anyone know how to access the lens motor? The back panel comes off easily, but there is one part on the front panel that sticks on the top of the lens and I can't get that off. Thanks.

I concur. The camera will be "beyond economical repair," and the 10% offer does little for customer loyalty.

My Kodak DX6440 did the same thing. After sending it to Kodak's third-party repair (as per Kodak), they called to say it was not fix-able. Kodak's response was "No parts available" and offered 10% off list price of a refurbished camera. ...Big sports ...Way to keep customer loyalty If you choose Kodak, the cameras are good but buy them knowing they are a disposable item. It started failing after a few shots in that it wouldn't retract as if the batteries were run down. Now it wont activate even when brand new batteries are put in, It merely flashes with the red allert light...

What can happen is the lens on them can go ofsidded, if the lens is not retracting back in give it a firm push untill u hear a click and turn off and on, hope this helps in some way.

It shuts off after turning on and the lens will not retract makes a grinding sound then shuts off

It seems that the one of the gears of your lens has came loose that is why you are expiriencing the problem. This may happen if the camera has been dropped or the lens has been banged.

You should contact the companies repair center to have your camera fixed

Wont turn on

Sir that click sounds is due to shutter breakage and hence you won't be able to access it properly. Take the shutter out after opening it and replace it with a new/fresh one.

KODAK M863 LENS STUCK

Here's what I did...Mine had the lens stuck out and would not power on. Just a green blinking for a second or two. Well, I tried twisting the lens ring closest to the camera while hitting the power button. It's kinda tricky to do...BUT, just keep at it. Mine was a $1 resale shop "find" and now it works. This worked for me. Maybe it will help you!

C875 lens won't retract

Camera (with new rechargable batteries) won't let the lens come out or if it does it instantly retracts.

Won't turn on light flashes green then flashes red then nothing else

This usually means weak batteries, the other possibility is the lens mechanism is faulty or stuck. These cameras will shut down if the lens cannot extend or retract. Sometimes you can coax the lens out with a little help by pulling gently on the lens with your fingers if it starts to come out, don't force it. If you have dropped the camera with the lens out, this can damage the mechanism to either work intermittently or not at all.

Kodak dx6440 wont power up lens wont and retract

I have the same/similar problem. I could hear the camera attempting to retract the lens. Camera shut down after timeout.

Disassembled camera & found two teeth missing from plastic gear in gearbox attached to lens motor. Don't know yet if part(s) are available.

Camera had light use. Patheticly short life & that Kodak didn't use stronger nylon gears. Bought a barely use Kodak P880 recently, & the autofocus died shortly after. Web search showed others had same failure. I'll never buy another Kodak camera.

Start and die

Could be time for a new camera But check out Kodak Support first. It has been said that cameras in a certain price band[any make/model] are to be considered as disposable -like toasters and kettles I guess.
