TV flickering when I turn a light bulb on in the same room

Hey,
I have a PANASONIC 46inc VIERA plasme. It works fine but as soon as a light switch is switched on in the same or nearby room the tv flickers for a couple of seconds. Horizontal lines appear on the tv when it flickers. Could a surge protector solve this problem? otherwise, can you think of another solution. Thanks.

This is a sony feature, they have a sensor on the front of the tv to measure ambient and adjust the tv brightness to the ambient light.

if you want to turn this off?

call sony or put some black tape over the sensor.

Panasonic viera will not turn on

Try the following troubleshooting steps.Check power cord and power outlet, possible light switch problem.
Check if you TV savy check the P board if the P board is not good check the fuses on the P board.
If the P board is OK check the A board.
To check these Unplug the TV , Disconect A5 A6 and A7 on the A board and plug the TV in and see if you get a white screen if this is the case your P board should be OK.

TV won't turn on with remote (new batteries)

Sounds like a power supply problem. The blinking light is never a good sign. Is it still under warranty?

Panasonic Viera TH-46PZ85BA Will not switch on

Yes, the unit has a problem. I work for Panasonic in New Zealand and the unit needs to go in for servicing. 10 flashing lights means a fault has occurred (if I was at work I could tell you what 10 flashing lights means).it should be repairable.

Flickering - Toshiba 62HMX84

it could be as simple as the tv feeding back on itself in a dark room.
it is adjusting the light level because of what it sees ambient in the room.
turn on a light near the tv and see if it stays constant now.
