I have a brand new Dell Laptop, and when i install the required software, the green lite is not on. All the cables are hooked up and the usb is ported to the laptop.
thankyou

After trying to set up TV using Windows Media Center my tuner seemed to get configured and the light came on. It still isn't recognized by Media Center though.

older vostros usually have a broken dc jack right where the power connector plugs in. otherwise try another ac adapter and also try removing and replacing the battery underneath.
im here to help but u may dislike what i say but please dont rate me bad for trying to help but..it could also be your laptop burning out that or the cord is cross wireing somewhere inside
When you switch the monitors, do you still use the very same vga cable? If you don't, then it's time to change the monitor. When it turns on and off inmediately it means that it's receiving the signal, but that's it. If it's brand new, exchange it.
Hook up your power adaptor to ac power without it being hooked up to the laptop and see if the green light stays on. If it does then you know your adaptor is okay. if your adaptor is only hooked up to ac power and the green light still turns off then you know your ac adaptor is bad.
Take out the battery from your laptop. Now hook up the ac adaptor to the laptop and if it stays green then you know your battery is bad but you also want to make sure you can get your laptop to turn on. Hopefully it will turn on with only the ac adaptor hooked up to it.
This link will give you an example of what you need to get in order to do that. The S-video port on your laptop is for output, you need something to capture a video signal:
i don't really know what instructions you expected, although you should have received something for the tuner and amp. I suspect that you are new to playing the guitar, as, I don't wish to sound disrespectful, you would know what to do! So first, and again I hope not to sound like I'm treating you like a dummy, plug the guitar into the tuner input. Or if It's a piezo tuner clamp it to your headstock. Most tuners are now automatic so it should pick up on the string you are striking.Repeatedly pluck the same string til the tuner changes colour, or flashes, or some other indication to tell you the string is at pitch. Repeat the above for all 6 strings.
Then plug the cable into the amp input, switch it on, and bugger about with the controls til you get a half decent sound. ( thats what the rest of us do).Don't expext too much from this package, it is budget level, but of quite good overall quality.hope this helps
you have to hook up the 1/4 headphone jack plug to the TV, from the computer. an Y audio cable with RCA plug (male) with headphone 1/4 male plug. hook the headphone jack to the green hole of the computer(sound out) to the audio input of the TV better yet to a stereo AUX port. also make sure the mute button hasnt been pressed.
Hi Betty,
First of all, this tuner requires that your laptop support USB 2.0, if your laptop is fairly new (made within the last 2 years) you should have no problem. Make sure you install the software first, and then plug in the USB cable from the tuner to your laptop. Your laptop should see it, and install it automatically. Then plug the s-video cable from your VCR to your TV tuner. Also connect the audio cables (white and red cables) from the VCR to the tuner. That's it.
Please let us know how this works for you, and if you need any additional troubleshooting.
Best regards,
nightdiver
