You might need to reset the password. In order to do this, follow these directions:

 1. Console into the router, then power cycle it. As its rebooting hit the "break | pause" button on your keyboard, and you get to the rommon1> prompt.
 2. Then type rommon1>confreg 2142 rommon2>reset
 3. The router comes back on as if it were new---answer no to the first question, and sometimes it asks a second question (do you want to terminate autoinstall, or something...)---answer yes to the secondquestion if it asks. Then hit enter and you get router> in a few seconds.
 4. Then router>en router#copy start run

create a new account:
 1. router#conf t
 2. router(config)#username bob priv 15 password bob
set register back:
 1. router(config)#confreg 0x2102
 2. router(config)#exit
 3. router#wr
 4. router#reboot

and that should let you login with bob/bob

Breaking password on cisco 857w

When the router first starts booting you need keep hitting the break sequence which should be crtl+F6 and that should bring you to ROMMON mode. you should get a prompt rommon 1>, that means you did it right. Now you need to change the configuration registers to 0x2142 by typing "confreg 0x2142". then type reset to restart the router. It should now ignore the saved config. hit crtl+c to cancel the initial setup, type "enable" to get to the enable prompt. Next type "copy startup-config running-config" to copy the startup configuration to the running configuration. Next type "configure terminal" to enter global configuration mode. Now you can type "enable secret <password>" to change the password to what you want. Last you need to change the config registers back to 0x2102 by entering the command config-register 0x2102.

How to use hyperterminal

Run HyperTerminal in Windows by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > HyperTerminal.
After clicking on the HyperTerminal icon, you will see this window:
hyperterminal_1_small.jpg
HyperTerminal prompts you to create a new connection. Note that this is not required but let’s go ahead and do it.

Type in the word cisco for the connection name and click OK.
Connect your Cisco device to your PC’s COM1 port but don’t turn it on yet. On the next window that appears, make sure that the “Connect Using” field says COM1 and click OK.
hyperterminal_2_small.jpg
On the next window, change the Baud rate to 9600 and click OK.
hyperterminal_3_small.jpg
Now, turn on your Cisco device. In the HyperTerminal window, you should see the boot up process for your device, like this:

//'); //]]> document.write(''); CollectiveMedia.createAndAttachAd("ns-74737014_1271195234","http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/ns.petri/archive;net=ns;u=,ns-74737014_1271195234,11286e7f1d8af7d,ce_mobile_blackberry,;;kw=;tile=2;ord1=504214;sz=300x250,336x280;ppos=BTF;contx=ce_mobile_blackberry;btg=;ord=3760843785557546?","300","250,336",false); archive;ppos=btf;kw=;tile=2;sz=300x250,336x280;ord=123456789??\ You have successfully configured HyperTerminal and connected to your Cisco device.
When you are done and try to close out HyperTerminal, you will be asked if you want to save this connection. I suggest saving it with the name you gave it, cisco, so that you don’t have to configure it again next time.

I need to connect cisco 2800 router to my pc through hyperlink

I think you mean hyperterminal? you need a cisco serial cable (blue) and a serial port on your PC, maybe a USB to serial adapter if there isn't one. Set hyperterminal to use the COM port you have plugged in to, speed 9600 8 bit no parity. (8N1).
Without the serial cable you need to know the router IP and password.

Default pasword

Cisco switches dont have a default password.
You will have to perform a password recovery process that is quite extensive.
You need to console into the switch using hyperterminal or teraterm and follow these instructions located at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_password_recovery09186a0080094184.shtml

I have cisco router 857 and dont know how to configure

Hi!
You can access the user manual for your router by going to: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/850/software/configuration/guide/857sg_bk.pdf

But simply put, - You have to enable the web interface in Hyperterminal/Telnet/Terminal - To connect to your router this way, open your Terminal and type the following commands in order:
1) enable (enter password if necc.) 2.) config term 3.) ip http server (this command might also be set to "no ip http server") 4.) exit
After doing the above: 1.) Press Cntrl+Z 2.) Go to Copy, Run, Start 3.) Open your browser and go to "10.10.10.1"
Good luck! -TJ

Connecting to console

The proper way to console to a switch (at least as far as Cisco Catalyst Switches are concerned) is a rollover cable and a DB9 adapter... I then use HyperTerminal to connect..

What type of switch are you connecting to, and what kind of hardware are you using?

I always use Cisco for networking (Cisco is the king of switches and routers).. here is their step by step for connecting to one of their swtiches:
