I PUT THE WRONG CHIP ON MY CAMERA "POWER SHOT S3

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

I own the Canon Power Shot S3IS. What is the largest SD card I can use in the camera;32GB? Thanks.

The largest SD card you can use is 2GB, but that's only because SD cards only go up to 2GB. You can also use SDHC cards from 4GB to 32GB. You cannot use larger SDXC cards.

Canon Power Shot A480 memory card error showing on screen I have checked side locked button

If it's a brand new card, it needs to be formatted with the camera. If it's been used before, the files may have been corrupted when plugged into your (or another) computer.

I have a canon power shot s3is and when i put a sd card into it it says memory card error. i've tried a number of other sd cards it seems not to read any card. just randomly started.

It is likely that an internal metal contact (one or several ones) inside the sdcard reader are bent, or damaged.

You will need to have your camera reviewed by a qualified technician to have it repaired, since it requires open the camera and evaluate the sd card reader mechanism.

Memory Card

chances are its the size of the pictures the camera is set to take, you will have to make them smaller, and lower quality to raise the amount of pictures you can take. The instructions on how to do that should be in the manual, or you can try the 1 i found on their site.

Changing the Resolution and Compression
1. With the camera power on, press the <FUNC./SET> button.

070.gif 2. In the Function menu select L* or 295.gifusing the 021.gifor 026.gif button.
a550rescomp.gif * The current setting is displayed.
3. Select the resolution or compression you wish to set using the 028.gifor 023.gif button.
You can shoot the image right after selecting settings by pressing the shutter button. This screen will appear again, once the image is shot.
6. Press the <FUNC./SET> button.
7. Shoot the image.

i hope that helps, later you might want to invest in a bigger memory card, 16mb is very small.Id go for a 512mb or a 1gb SD memory card ,then you'll be able to take more larger quality pictures.
